The Beginning: Part II
The First Story. The group arrive in the Gower Chantry where they are all arrested on suspicion of trying to bring in Technocracy. The cabal find themselves involved in some strange incidents; discovery of the Dark Corrupter, Technocratic heritage of Dylan, Forbidden Technocratic Technology, Prophecies and the Importance of the Cabal and a few others. Culminating with the destruction of the Chantry by the efforts of both the Technocracy and the Nephandi.
Session 2 Summary
Title: The Beginning… Part II
Time: Monday 31st January 2000 ~7pm till 11pm
Players: Tiarnan, Peter K, Peter S, Fiachra, Alan and Tim.
Summary:
Flashback: [Tiarnan only] During Jimmy’s pre-awakened life as a courier, racing around the city, reaching incredible speeds nearly had an accident. A man in bermuda shorts and surfboard saves him and disappears.
Martin Swift and Connor Belgrow arrive in the Chantry are are automatically arrested by the Sergeant. Charges being a Suspicious Species and Guilt by Association. (GM – Sorry, quickest and dirtiest way to get you into the plot!). They were forced to wear the same green anklets. The rest of the group are let out moments before where they find themselves on a large green lawn. In front they could see a huge towering overlapping pile of buildings. To the right, a pile of stately looking buildings, i.e. the Libraries.
The Old Man appears and tries to rally the group to find the Akashic who dumped them in this trouble. Nicholas stomps off towards the libraries while Shi headed in the apartments direction. When they both reach the edge of the green lawn they discover they can not move any further. The bracelets are using some sort of forces magick to prevent them from straying far from the group. Jimmy is determined to find some caffeine.
[Shi only] Shi, receives a message from The Messenger. It’s from his Mentor Fu Shun asking him to wait for him in the Chantry.
Nicholas, while waiting for the group to come closer, casts a ritual to summon a vague ancient hunter spirit. The magic works but nothing happens.
The old man, claims he can’t remember his name and waddles off trying to hail a cab from a distance. Jimmy rush forth, faster then the wind and stops the cab getting comments of “Damn Cult of XTC…” from nearby group of Euthantos and Celestial Chourus.
They ask the cab to take them to the nearest drinking place and the cab brings them into the Apartments and a Irish Pub. There a rough large Barman brings them Beer. The old man pays for the beer with Tass and Jimmy gets his fix of Caffeine.
[Nicholas only] Out of ear-shot of the group, the Barman recognizes Nicholas and starts to act very nervously.
Shi attempts to find The Way to the Akashics in the Chantry but ends up leading the group deeper in the maze of the Apartments. They hail a cab and the cab brings them to the Gardens and to a Zen Garden. Here they enter the Akashic Training Grounds.
[Dylan only] On the way to the Zen Garden, Dylan believes he spots a Technocratic agent he once meet in the Gardens. But it was too brief to be certain.
In the Training Grounds, tons of different nationalies and styles train and practice martial arts. No sign of the Akashic.
A old enemy challenges Shi to duel at 6pm that evening. (It was about midday). Shi, being honourable, agreed.
Another Akashic, named John Rodes, said he knew Tao, the akashic they looking for. But he’s dead and has been dead for quite a while. Tao apparently challenged his Mentor, failed, broke the rules and tried to kill his Mentor who, in defence, killed his student. John Rodes said, he saw the body being buried in a Tibet graveyard.
(GM Note – we lose Jimmy and Shi here as Peter K and Tiarnan had to disappear off)
Nicholas receives a message from Kat, his girlfriend, asking him to coming to her appartment.The Group oblige.
Her Chantry appartment is above a dingy goth nightclub. Made up of two rooms, one large room, a balcony and small room full of pots and jars and heavy smells. A verbena kitchen. The main room is decorated in black and white and has amazing spiraling scultures of non repeating patterns.
Kat appeared pretty pissed off at Nicholas and was not embrassed to argue in front of the group. She attempted to put off the group by twisting her both in a grotesque way by spirialing her arm around one of the pillar sculptures.
[Connor only] Connor senses something reminscint of the Wyrm but nothing to indicate that it is the dreaded Evil.
[Martin only] Martin is slightly hynotised by the spirial sculptures but is easily able to escape the reverie.
[Nicholas only] On the balcony, Kat gives him a pot of black liquid to use in emergency and asks him to watch Martin closely. She advises him that the only way to get a contact with earth would be, in the Technology Zone or the Celestial Chourus Libary.
[Everyone else] Martin and Connor attempt to convince Dylan about the prinicipal of Evil and Good.
Kat and Nicholas return in the middle of the conversation. Kat, uses her magick to make her tongue snake like and she likes her lips and blows Connor a kiss. Martin takes this in good sport but Connor seemed apprehensive.
[Martin only] Got a message through to Zera, the person who invited him here, to meet her in the Technology Zone.
@ the Technology Zone, Martin logs on and manages to send a electionic message to Zera. Nicholas askes a passing Virtual Adept about who he can ask for access to the earth realm. He points out a female Virtual Adept dressed like a Victorian lady sitting at a table sipping tea. Unfortantly, Dylan spots that Technocrat agent he spotted before. He shoots his gun but the Chantries magickal defence act up and bullet is slowed down. Virtual Adepts and other mages jump everywhere, force fields appear and the agent correspondences out of there.
The old man is preventing the Sergent from interveaning. The crowd relaxes somewhat and Nicholas attempts to speak to the Female Virtual Adept. Shes a bit unnerved but for the promise of information later she gives a him a floppy disk which contains a correspondence software to open portals for a short while. Nicholas covers it in wax and blood.
Using the Messenger, Dylan communicates with the Technocrat and agrees to talk to him online.
Nicolas plugs his magickal floppy into one of the many terminals and opens a portal to Poland where it’s snowing. Using his chain as an anchor, pops through into the chilly place. At the same time, a huge 7ft high Spirit appears. He’s completely clothed in brown worn leather and steal spikes protude from everywhere without restricting his movement. This causes quite a stir amoung the people. It is a Spirit of War and Hunt that Nicholas summoned. He was upset and annoyed that he had to travel accross the Deep Umbra to get here to discover the Mage that called him is sitting in the Earth Realm. He’s even more upset when the promise of Battle and Hunt is unavaliable because there is no scent of the Akashic.
[Dylan only] On the Digital Web, Dylan talks with the Technocrat, Gavin Maitland. Gavin shows him what the Technocracy Progentiors did to him, disease experiments.
Nicholas, unsure what to do with the Spirit, askes it to get the Technocract, Dylan fired at. Which it does, jumping into the Digital Web.
[Dylan only] Online, the place starts to shake and a huge pack of Dogs comes running through being rode by the Spirit. It grabes Gavin and disappears.
Gavin is dumped painfully in front of Nicholas. Blood gushing from his mouth. Several of the Virtual Adepts hanging around rush to Gavin’s attention including the female Virtual Adept that gave Nicholas the disk. Dylan is angry at Nicholas for his unresponsible wasting of time.The Spirit wanders off.
[Dylan only] Dylan uses Life magick to heal the wounds Gavin suffered.
The old man leaves the Sergent and comes over to Nicholas trying to get them moving out of the Zone. The Spirit bows to the old man.
[Martin and Connor only] Martin attempts to communicate with Zera while the crowds are fasinated by what has happened. But Zera is frightened by them, seeing the green anklets. Martin tries to desperatly assure her that its okay but she is unwilling.
[Dylan only] Dylan hears the Virtual Adepts asking Gavin who Dylan is? Gavin says he is an ex-technocract…
Go back to John Rodes, the group find the location of the grave. They return to the Technology Zone and using Jimmy (played as a NPC) to scry the location, pinpoint the exact place. Nicholas opens a portal into the graveyard. He calls the dead spirit but Tao does not appear. Instead a woman ghost appears constantly trying to scratch Nicholas. She has some connection to the grave but keeps blaming the Mages for taking Him (Tao) away and for killing his spirit. Martin is distressed by Nicholas display of disrespect to the dead and tries to free and calm the spirit. Nicholas tries to bind the spirit but the Spirit manages to evade.
[Dylan only] Dylan uses some life magick to make Nicholas faint.
Nicholas faints and is dragged back through the portal.
Attempts to find Tao using his image and the Messenger fail.
