(4) Gadeon Eudar talks about his work with the Murder of Crows Shadowrunners
Transcript of Gadeon Eudar’s first run with the Murder of Crows Shadowrun group.
It was presented to 1st and 2nd level initiatives who are hoping to explore the combative elements of magic.
This is the first in a series of lectures that Gadeon Eudor hopes to present of his experinces in an extreme modern day combat environment.
“Thank you Ladies and Gentlemen for coming to my lecture. I hadn’t expected such a crowd.
My name is Gadeon Eudar and I’m a third level initiate and I intend to present theses lectures to document and share my experinces while working with the Murder of Crows Shadowrunner group.
Many of you may know me through my articles and lectures on study of magic in military enviroments. Well, I decided I should test my own theories by joining a Shadowrunner group. On a quick side note please be aware that several of theses operations may be illegal and I beg your privacy and discretion.
I needed to find a group that had a variety of skills from subtle episonage to downright carnage. The first name that popped out of my Fixers mouth was Murder of Crows. In fact the name Murder of Crows is on most Fixers mouths.
Rumours abound about their participation in the Queen Euporia Sim, either as consultants to the movie director or the real men behind the carnage. There are interesting rumours that they are the Ghosts behind the wipe out of the APN. On the other hand they are also know for their complete carnage, if any of you remember the reports of the YET destruction.
It sounds like the Murder of Crows have got the range of combat experince likely to test the full range of my magic and combat theories.
Luckly, for me that is, they’ve recently lost a man or orc as the case may be. A rigger. So I arrange my Fixer and introduction and as it turns out they have been in dire need of a Magic user on their team for quite a while.
The first mission came from a Fixer by the name of Henson Homes. Big rep in the shadowrunner world and he had a subtle job for us. Steal a unique “Orchid” and replace it with a chip. We were all in and so with in a day we were in the Amazon jungle.
Besides a brief run in with a few of the local tribes men the trip to the target was uneventful. The target is a large mansion with an airstrip surrounded by a sleeping army.
I sent in Watchers first, hoping to sniff out the orchid, but none returned.
We took our time and laid our plans. I made Vindicha, Powder and myself invisible using Improved Invisiblity Spell. Vindicha and myself went in while Powder remained back. Vindicha went in first and started exploring the green house where he didn’t find the orchid. I followed him in but as soon as I got inside, my invisiblity spells failed! A gardener nearby could see me. Quite easily, I took him out using a simple Stun Bolt spell. I should mention at this point, there was additional money if we completed the mission without killing anyone. The Stun Bolt was effective. But the alarm had been raised.
So I quickly raised another Improved Invisibilty Spell but that failed very soon afterwards. Peering into Astral space I saw a little nature spirit attacking it. Diving into the Astral world I dispatch the spirit easily. I now kept my senses both in the real world and the Astral World. A novice mistake I know but I’m at least allowed one.
Vindicha had gone upstairs so I went downstairs where I quickly ascertained that the Orchid was not in the West Wing of the mansion. Quite dramatically, Vindicha falls through the roof and runs off. Of course he can’t see me. So I head off to do the rest of the West Wing only to find that enemy gaurds had appeared. They were targetting Vindicha. So I throw up a Barrier to in front of the men and Vindicha runs off safely. In fact this act also saved me as I later discovered that Vindicha would have shot a grenade at the gaurds not knowing I was nearby.
I took a few out using Mana Bolts and in that time Vindicha confirmed he had found the Orchid. Time to leave but just then, rather like a bad action movie, a rather large grenade shakes the building. Powder has joined the fray. Joining them outside I use Leviate Spell to head towards the jungle. Vindicha is a like a tank. They keep hitting him in the back as he runs off and he barely slows down. I feared that he might be in severe trouble from the numerous “help me” calls on the radio.
Also at the same time Powder has taken apon himself to attack a rather nasty helicopter. I fear that this helicopter could do some awful damage so I use a Fireball Spell. While the spell was effective, the helicopter was still fighting fit. At the same time, Vindicha, while still incredibly fast, is beginning to slow down from the ton of lead in his back. I decide I should give him some protection so I anchor a barrier between him and the mansion. This enabled him to get into the Jungle without dying.
Powder quickly followed us in the Jungle after that and we met up to lick and wounds and make our way back.
In conclusion I have had my first real taste of combat. I admit I was acting with a little innoncence but as the saying goes, what doesn’t kill me only makes me stronger.
Thank you for your attention and hopefully I’ll see some of you next time.”
