More on the Background for the Lost Heroes Chronicle

I’ve been working on the background: Its going to be a small-ish clan. The clan will be ruled over by one chief. There is a council, but basically every able-bodied man attends (it happens about once a month). The village itself will comprise of about 30-40 people (including slaves and children), mostly craftsmen and their families and warriors. They’ll be about 15-20 warriors.

There are also several farms outside of the village fort. It’s about a days travel on horse to the “border” of the clan’s land. To one side, the sea is within another half-day’s travel. The clan does little fishing but quite often there is travelling traders who stop at the nearest beach. Just outside the border as well there is a huge ancient forest and a few days more you can reach the mountains. When I get the time, I’ll do up a rough map of the local area.

There is two druids who live in the village. One is an apprentice. (Though you can play a druid as well if you wish). Often times during the year a few more will arrive for certain religious feasts. There is also a witch who lives on the furthest border (close to the mountain). She is feared but she is also the local midwife.

As a group of warriors you’ll have several duites. Regularly border patrols, negotiations/raids on other clans and general protection of the clan though during certain times of the year, you’d be expect to muck in with the rest of the village such as gathering the harvest, preparing for winter, etc. There are regular problems with wild animals, raiders (for local clans and sea based) and even the odd supernatural problem.

The village it self is a large enough ring fort with one large hall for the chief and feasts. Most nights there is a gathering there to tell stories, sing and dance by a large fire.

Currently I’m thinking that the chief’s name is Brian and the clan is called Crowe but if you have better ideas, I’m all ears.

The first adventure will start in Winter. It’ll have been a harsh one and several of the older folk have died. It snowed and the Druids prophecise more before Spring. I still have to work on putting some NPCs togethers and some details about the rival clans. If you have any suggestions (such as from your backgrounds)… :)
