Looks good, XT. One small addition could be that you could tell people to try pinging the IP address of the MUCK server in case their DNS services are down or limited. Some campus networks also block outbound ICMP (including mine), so ping might in some cases not work, whereas you may be able to connect.
Trying it out with windows telnet would be good idea, since we know it works with high ports. A sugestion might be to go Start->Run and 'telnet 24.114.64.40 44321'. If they see the welcome screen, then they can connect, dodgy clients notwithstanding.
Overall, yeah, great, and a good idea to have one. *clapclap*
