Well, I'm glad that all turned out to be a misunderstanding of a misunderstanding of a misunderstanding. ^_^;; Goodness, why didn't someone just out and SAY it if slow plot was the only thing really at hand? I had OCs telling me that people were plotting massive OC Revolution. (>_<)
So, er, right. We've all learned a nice lesson in acting before we knew what was going on. ^_^;;
(And I wasn't mentioning anything about Khi--She's just a general example) Anyway! If that's all that's really up, then that's easy enough to fix.
So! Why don't we just rant here on the OOC board for the time being? Just rant out ideas for plots--Remember, they don't have to be glorious, they don't have to be massive, they don't even have to be IMPORTANT. Heck, they don't even have to be real -TP- ideas--They can just be scene ideas, one-time log ideas, or anything you delight in otherwise.
They don't have to be relevant, workable, or anything. Just, please, everyone. ^_^ If you have any little idea for -anything-, please post it here, no matter how it sounds. This can just be brainstorming or plotting, and if anything really interesting comes up that people seem to enjoy, we can try to work with it.
Realize that there are several plots of various importance already running. The only formal TPs about are the Rogue Ethos and Dark Yggdrasil plots (both of which are going slowly right now, but this is certainly fixable as all the RPers are active)... But there are also OC plots going on, like Ryukumu's. ^_^
So, feel free to rant about anything that comes to mind.
I still want to work with the plots that are currently going on, but I'm tempted to agree with what Jalon's been saying lately: A comic plot would be fun. ^_^

As Ryukumu has been detained by the GA-GS, he WILL be moved to Solaris soon. Anyone who has any reason to ICly give a flying flip should take note. ^_^
But with new plot ideas, I'm not quite sure. I remember a while back when I first started playing Deus Ex (when it WORKED on my computer >_<;;; ) I remember suggesting a plot idea/ripoff revolving around a nanovirus developed in Solaris that accidentally got released and would spread worldwide. Although it sounds cliche', and as stated is a COMPLETE ripoff of Deus Ex's storyline, it does have potential. Many characters throughout the MUCK, IC and OC alike, could be affected by this virus, whether it be by their directly becoming infected, or by having friends becoming ill. For this to work, a significant number of players will have to 'volunteer' to have their characters become ill, or perhaps even die from illness, though the survival of their character is completely up to the player. If this plot were to come into fruition, I plan on making a character who will become infected and die from the virus. Solaris may or may not make it known that they developed the virus, and if they've even developed an antidote, Solaris controls the supply of the antidote. Solaris' grip on world political affairs would be tightened even more; if you're against Solaris, prepare to be plagued. I'm not sure about the IC benevolence of the OC leaders of Solaris (ie: Luka, others), but everyone knows the MC leaders of Solaris would use this to their advantage.
In other words, Ryukumu Isora would be dead as a doornail, but that's another story... ^_^;;;
The only thing that bugs me (except the blatant ripoff-ism) is that a simliar thing already happens in Xenogears with the Gaetia Key/Creation of Wels mess.
By Luka on Friday, September 28, 2001 - 10:08 pm:
No, it can work....
A way to circumvent the deadlock between Cain and the Ministry's hold on the Gaetia Key--make a virus intended to set off the mutations anyway. At least, that might be something a few of the scientists--including Krelian--might be up for. Since that's tying itself back into the plot and also handles the ooc issues of people being on and instant advancement of Wel-dom, and it doesn't have to be all of Solaris doing it--the branches are scattered enough as it is--it's a possible and interesting idea. At least to me, so... for all I really know, it could have the appeal of a dead fruitbat.
By Luka on Friday, September 28, 2001 - 10:09 pm:
Er, I have brainpower here, really. I meant to add that the virus could have had the -intention- to have the mutations, but ends up becoming something entirely different and more like a sickness, or just strange altogether.
My meds are calling me.
By Carthan on Friday, September 28, 2001 - 10:18 pm:
Hm, that might actually open up a whole new can of worms, though that's probably a bad adage. With the mutations happening anyway, wouldn't that, at least in probably a few cases, release the DNA limiters in some people? It'd open up some potential, perhaps. Of course, it could go just as bad too, so it's really a toss-up.

A virus as a TP has come up a lot, and its always had some potential in my eyes. ^_^
I think the only problem is figuring out how to RP it. (X_X) Lots of being sick. Lots of paranoia towards the ill. Some groups of people Wel-ing (?) Its massive panic RP!
I want Nisan to do something. I want yet another heavy object/soda machine to fall on Margie. But I'm listening to one song on autorepeat and its messing with my head. (X_x)
I have an old list of odd and only pseudo-applicable plot ideas I wrote up about a half year/year ago. I'll yank them out in a later post.
That is all. ^_^
By Luka on Friday, September 28, 2001 - 11:22 pm:
Sorry to post again... was thinking on the drive home. But here's one -possible- way things could go if you wanted to do things. Don't listen to me, this is simply babble:
The virus might or might not be along the lines of mutations--whichever way it goes, especially considering that half of the mutations make people raving lunatics for blood, is whichever works. Ebola.
Area by Area:
Solaris is naturally ground zero for this, but it may be entirely an accident--especially if this isn't a Gaetia plague so much as a virus only halfway put together along that route, meaning that it might surprise even the creators. (The scientists in some dark corner somewhere get caught by their own virus, and one of them flees in desperation to not get locked away in a Level 4 biochamber, spreading it and so forth, if anyone wanted to play such a person... again, just an idea.) That would keep the antidote from being instantly on hand and make even Solaris worry a little. Some people--Krelian, for example--might be inclined to monitor the effects if he discovers it was part of the Faux Gaetia--we'll call it that for shorthand--and kill two birds with one stone by studying those infected under the pretense of seeking a cure.
Aveh and Dazil are much in the same umbrella--with the SolAveh pax in play, they have at least a chance against something ravaging the country. In an extreme panic, borders of nations are closed of course, making things tricky for people who aren't officially part of one place or the other. Also, disease is the common denominator--actually, I'd imagine Solarians would be even -more- inclined to catching something like this, since they've been bred over the centuries into the 'perfect race'. Talk about humbling... back to the subject, disease crosses the races rather well, giving people either a reason to hate the other side less or more.
On another note, if it's part of the Faux Gaetia, then demihumans might have a better resistance to it, being already somewhat along the lines, or a higher susceptibility. Rico, being in Kislev which is the highest populated nation where demihumans are concerned, would definately have something on his hands, as would any other demihuman about there or anyone interested in researching the disease and resistances.
Kislev is in partnership with Shevat for now, which allows it some better medical technology--keeping it from simply turning into a 'If you're against Solaris you die, end of story' routine. Admittedly they have neither the best resources nor defense against it, but they're not completely sitting ducks. Lahan is part of Kislevi territory, but under-resourced, and Blackmoon is also part of that (who knows, maybe there are trees in Blackmoon which naturally produce a chemical useful for fighting this off, akin to the HIV flower.)
The Yggdrasil is covered by SolAveh, so it doesn't have reason to be completely helpless, and the Dark Yggdrasil is covered by Kislev-Shevat, so it should be all right there too... not that anyone will be perfectly protected, but neither will they be unable to do anything either, keeping Solaris from having the only monopoly...
The Ethos is the best center of medical technology on the surface, meaning that activity around there will be much, much higher. Truly desperate people might attempt to steal medical supplies or shut others away from them. The Thames might become an isolated salvation, or one infected person might get on the ship and the place goes straight to hell. People might have themselves willingly infected and turn themselves into biological weapons against nations they hate if they're that fanatical, you never know... or just try to infect the water supplies there if they think they have a secure hold on it, such as a vial of an infected person's blood...
The Rogue Ethos might see this as the divine punishment upon the rest of the world (so might the Sencheists or any other religious faction out there), and they might also get into trouble by not having as free access to those medical supplies. They might raid the Ethos or try to seize the Cathedral itself, or do something with the Orphanage to lure out the major Etones.
Babel Tower is... abandoned and possibly open to very desperate people trying to isolate themselves, meaning that people might think about fleeing there--although it's in the heart of Ethos territory, so who knows.
Ft. Jasper could become the dropoff point for people getting innoculations and research, as well as treatment, since flying people up to Solaris in bulk might send the uninfected into a panic as well as weaken security, and Jasper has a lot of good facilities, as well as being isolated itself. This would give people in Nisan something to do--or reason to go there--considering that sick people could always use religion. It would give Elly a reason to be there and do her Sophia benevolance routine, if we had an Elly--maybe one will app.
The New Elru are covered, since they're part Elru, part Laboratory... disease, being the killer you can't see and can only barely defend against, would likely make any Nightmares very interesting and populated, and people in the grips of medicines or pains might be more inclined to stay asleep or can recover their sanity on that side.
I think... that's it...
Again, this is -only a possible way- which is primarily babble. As many, many people can attest, I'll go off on random ideas at the drop of a hat, such as seen here.
Meanwhile, Senchei is over and looking as if she'll rip the phone line out--she says hi, incidentally, and blesses Kale--so I'll put these ideas away for now and have dinner. ^^

*Likes anything that includes Aquavy. >_>*
I have, and always have had, an irrational OBSESSION with the place. Anything that involves the Orphanage and/or Ethos area/religion thus seems rather cool to me.
*Eyes Luka's comment on Rogue Ethosers for this reason* Nice. (X_X)
*Stops being odd* Other ideas! Right, I actually found them. They also include raids on Ethos.... And various ideas to attempt to assassinate various people. And there's an idea too similar to Adesha. And the beginning ideas of a war system that I set on FIRE because I realized that people, if they were going to wage a war, wouldn't want a hyper-complex rule/number system to follow when they did.
Right. That was kind of lame. I'll shut up now and leave it to the rest of you. >_> *Finds time to nap*

Hey, if everyone's up for it, I'm up for it. I'm surprised people actually liked the idea. ^_^;;;

Yo people!
... there's a fanfic that's sort of about this idea of healing people with vaccines and taking care of the injured and so forth. It's called "Heart" and can be found on www.RPGamer.com under the Xenogears fanfictions. I think it's also on a few other web sites.
The story's not 100% accurate I don't think.
What actually happened during the game was that the Xenogears Good Guys wanted to release some nanomachine stuff or something to remove the Physical and Psychological Limiter from people using the old Mass Driver missiles from Zeboim.
NOTE! Yes, people have a PSYCHOLOGICAL LIMITER that instills a natural fear of Solaris. So if you wonder why you face a Solaris gear and make your pants into a toilet, it's because you were genetically programmed to do so. Remember that, people! Right? Yes? Good.
Okay. Back to the beer of the story!
The nanomachines are supposed to help people rebel against Solaris but Krelian jumps the gun and spreads nanos on people so that ordinary people start to mutate. Normally when oyu turn the Gaetia Key, only a small number of people meant to be a part of God actualy mutate, but Krelian in the game wants to make lots of "extra God Matter". He does this by making everything mutate with nanomachines (and that's why he's so interested in looking up Elly's genes and stuff).
So that's why people mutate in the game. I think. If I remember accurately... I played the game again and took lots of notes this time so I think it's pretty accurate from the clues that the game gives. Someone out here ask someone else who knows the game well just to get a second opinion.
Anyway then that virus could basically be that same thingy-thing. The only problem is that Krelian is supposed to get the ANima relics for some reason or another and in the game he does it before he gets the nano virus out to mutate people.
What a weird game.

Thanks Alliah! And show up more often, I miss having people around I can knock back a cold one with.

How about rather then a Solaris made virus, we use a Zebiom bioweapon? It would be some no one would see coming, and it would hard for any country to counter, due to it be a completely unknown virus. We could get someone to be a Vector, and as they travel they infect people, but are unaware of the fact their the reason the virus is sprending until it's too late.

Hey, its all good. ^_^ Just as long as someone else runs a plot like this--The idea is interesting and whatnot, but, um, right. I couldn't run it. I'd rather be a random participant, just like anyone else.
Nonetheless, all you really have to make sure of in a plot like this is that:
--It is not a point of no return. We do not want to make this so the world is perminantly maimed by something like this, or it throws us down the path of the 2nd Disc's 'End of the World' sort of scenario. We do want people to recover, because I do feel RP might suffer were most everyone to die or become Wels or something. ^_^
--It has a sufficient amount of RP. Are people just going to be RPing being sick? Paranoia and fear of the ill is all lovely and all, but is it, and the search for an antidote, enough to really RP? If so, charming! But if there's any doubt, try to run something small at the same time.
Running something else also adds the note of more panic--Not only is everyone sick, but something has to be done at the same time...
Just ideas. ^_^

In the end, it's up to Ryu, I suppose. Something like a virus is very tricky to balance anyway. ^^

Eh, I'm not one to go into things fully, but I'll say this. I have been working on somehting of this nature for sometime now. I don't want to get into the whole thing just yet cause it's large scale and can still stand ot have more put into it(in my eyes anyways). I wasn't originally gonna say antyhing, cause I thought I was totally screwed, but I just wanted to get this in now, seeing there was still a chance to get my foot in the door ^^;;;

Y'mean I have to take the lead on this?

Okay, I'll do it. I'll do a quick write-up and submit the TP idea, make it official.
But this WILL take a lot of support from everyone for this to work.
In other words... YOU ASKED FOR IT!!! XD

You have my full support. Just ask and I'll help anyway I can, both OOC and IC.

Me and Xeero are doing some discussion, something'll come up in a few days.
By Ryukumu on Thursday, October 04, 2001 - 08:26 pm:
M'kay, discussion done. A write-up has been submitted to Dominia.
Luka, Gazel, Krelian, I'll need to talk with you guys as far as how Solaris responds to the virus.
