Xenogears MUCK: IC Messages, Part Deux.: Preparations

Another quiet day, another brilliant morning as the sun rises over the mountains of Nisan. Tranquil and strong, alone, and yet always with a feeling of company, an environment perfect for the silent contemplation of life.

The crackle of lightning ether rumbles through the clearing and the nearby woods, but the wildlife does not seem to mind, not disturbed, merely going about its business. They know this one. Carthan Russhe is training himself still.

"An Spier!" The rough-hewn man shouts, thrusting the sword in his hands out towards the clearing's edge, a longer lance of ether-powered light extending beyond the reach of the blade, then vanishing. He rolls to one side, springing to his feet after pushing off the ground with his free hand. The blade flows like water, moving with the speed of lightning in tune with his movements, slash, parry, strike, block, duck and stab foreward, flip the sword, and stab behind, spin and send the blade biting deeply into the throat of his invisible opponent. Freezing in a solid defensive stance, the caretaker pants slightly. He's off his prime, has been resting for too long.

"....Well, Mr. Russhe, your ear should be good as new now. It took a bit of doing, but we were able to reset the imbalance you had, and repair the electrical burns inside."
"Good. Did the payment reach you all right?"
"Yes sir, though it'll take a bit of time to transfer it into Shevvite currency, it's much appreciated."
"All right. Thank you doctor, I'll be taking my leave now."
"Of course, we're glad we could help. Just one thing though....personal curiosity if nothing else."
"Which is?"
"How did that happen? The damage was quite severe, you wouldn't have been able to get half as far as the clinic under normal circumstances."
"I was wearing a radio headset and it exploded. Some of the doctors gave me an implant to fix things enough for me to get here."
"I see....well, good luck in the future then, sir."

"Heh...." he panted as he stabbed the practice sword into the dirt, sitting down on a rock nearby. "Funny, he didn't even recognize me. Must mean it's going better than I thought." Now, all that remained....he could accomplish. He could do....almost anything, now. It would be perfect. He could feel human again.

Anything was possible.
And everything was waiting for him.
