Block D possible TP.

Xenogears MUCK: TP: Block D possible TP.
By Kiljax on Saturday, February 16, 2002 - 05:05 am:

Now, let's test this little council out. Starting with a weee TP, then we'll go onto the big stuff ^_^. Just kidding guys, no need to get out the zot rays.

Now, I realize there's this whole set-up for TP and such, where it goes what it affects and who is important. But this is more of a minor-TP involving the sewers of Block D, as well as an open tournament inside of the notorious gang lead area.

The set up: Big evil monster in sewers, skeleton in appearance, easily kills, fast as heck, etc. Bulletin board set up around Nortune, Block A-D with adds on a tournament for money and the greater good.

The scenes: One would have to be the tournament sign up and such, another would have to be the whole, before the fights. Fights can be disponible if need be, and those that find out who's funding the tournament could go directly to the source and ask for hire. If they got the brains to figure it out, they got the skill needed to most.

Gimmick: Fights are somewhat unfair, the arena made is constantly shifting and changing on purpose, to see if the players can actually cope with spontanious changes. People who rank high in the tournament will be hand selected to take an expedition into the sewers and flush out the beast. This would be longer than a day trip, so expect a little more effort on the timelimit. All those that destroy the monster get handsomely paid.

Bad news: Tournament sponsors, not the runner, are crooked and have certain agendas of their own, like rigging the fights and video-taping the brutality for distribution.

Worst news: There are more than one skeleton creatures.

This is the basics, there is no real major affect outside of Nortune and respect gaining, but it is more likely to attract attention. I know the tournament part is overdone in theme, but indeed, the idea of it not being a simple 1 on 1 fight, and having obstacles and such, does intrigue a bit of ingenuity. Again, this small TP is to see how you people can react ^_^.

No offense, of course.

Have a good day and thanks.

It might attract people there, it might not. Not to be a wet-towel...but there's almost no people in Nortune to DO this with.

By Domi on Saturday, February 16, 2002 - 09:31 pm:

This is true.. But then again, there was basically no one in Shevat, and they managed to do something...

Although a tournament does require enough people to have a battle or two, and I don't really think there are enough people to pair out neatly.

Kislev -does- need to do something, though. Maybe a monster plot on its own would work? What's detailed by Kiljax here is fundamentally similar to what you do in the game with the man-eating Wel...

Although it's a bit vague. But, there's my random input.

Kiljax asked me about this plot earlier, and I think the idea is that word gets around in other places (Bledavik, Dazil), in order to attract people who need money enough that they'd be willing to trek all the way to Nortune, so that kinda solves the 'no people' problem. Of course, you'd also need to build Nortune's sewers. ^^;

I feel that it's worth a try. But then again, I'm for anything that will bring more people to Nortune. If it works, good. If it fails, so what? Either way, Nortune can't any worse then it is now.
My only objection is that any TinyPlot that revolves around fighting will need a very well constucted plotline. So, Kiljax needs to make a detailed plot idea and not do this by the seat of his pants.
If you need any help Kiljax with this, don't forget to ask me for it, after all what am I here for?

By Domi on Monday, February 18, 2002 - 01:46 am:

But.. y'know.. Aveh and Kislev are at war. ^_^;;; While a few could manage it, not -everyone- can sneak across the border unknowingly and get off scot free. And not everyone can be sent there on spying duty and not everyone can skip work. Solaris/Aveh/The Ygg are at war with Kislev, so.. People could get in trouble for trying. ^_^;

It just means that this makes it a touch too complicated to 'do for fun'.

And yes, yes.. Fighting plots are complicated, and our last tournament was.. erk. The plot that was non-fighting related did well, but the tournament itself was riddled with scheduling problems and OOC quarrels over people who felt that things weren't fair and whatnot.

It's a touch hard.

Indeed, as I have stated before, it would be a difficult plot to put together piece by piece, but then again, this is as well a test for the TP council. Not that it's needed, it's more or less to see how smoothly things would go along. As for the tournament based, yes, it would be difficult and yes there would be quarrels, but it's a running idea, it could just as easily be an obstacle course, though that in itself would take a little mucking around to accomplish.

On Victor's note.... By the seat of my pants? Hmm, sounds like you know me too well, indeed I do pull these things out of thin air and raffel them about for the mere suspense of seeing what will happen and if anyone will bite, but usually that is not the case. With this little plot here, it does add the whole conflict of people not being in Kislev and not being able to make their way to the tournament, as well as the whole at war things to complicate it, or not.

The Kislev's are at war with Aveh, but I'm sure that Block D civilians or tennants if you prefer, don't give a hoot about this little spat, now evading work and spying in are all not smart ideas, but let's say there is a spy and they somehow figure out about this tournament, they could easily report it to their superiors, and their superiors could, if this was in their track of plans, implant a few operatives in Block D for the purpose of figuring who set up this whole shablam and at the same time, while posing as a contender, snoop their noses about for information on the Kislev militia and such.

Now, as for plot and the thick and gooey of all the good TPs, that I will need a little bit of time to bug out. There are still the small issues that could complicate things more than words could describe. As the basics are posted above, the storyline will soon be added to the thread as well, just hang in there with me and I'll get you some details and such.

Again, if you wish to contact me, whether it's complaints or helpful advice, please, just e-mail it to the link on my name.

Suggestion/ Instead of a tournament, which is by all means a large event (and difficult to do, few things you try to throw in the mix will make it any easier to run, and the IC situation isn't helping it any either), why not start smaller, especially since this is your first TP (that I know of)? You do need plot to draw people to Kislev, but a tournament is big, complicated and hard to pull off -correctly- so people will stay interested.

That monster idea sounds like a better bet, and by all means, leave some room in your plot for things to grow more complicated.

Example/ It can be 'just' a monster plot at first, but what would happen if it escaped, and started roaming the city? The Kislevi have their hands full with the war, so they could issue a challenge with prize money for someone to come defeat it. This is just a random example, to show what I mean.

Tournament was tried at Aveh, it didn't work so well. -_- Archer's idea sounds very tangible and believable. Taking a cue from the past Tournament in Aveh, the monster thing sounds about right, especially since it fits in with the storyline and all. (Xenogears' battle, of Rico vs. the big huge dino)

I coulda taken it. Pah.

By Collin on Friday, March 01, 2002 - 07:59 pm:

I don't think your Gear would fit in the sewers, nor would you be allowed to romp through town trying to kill it, Mr. Banderas. ^_^

By Rico on Saturday, March 02, 2002 - 01:07 am:

Says you, shorty. ^^

By Gabriel on Saturday, March 02, 2002 - 02:05 pm:

You know what they say-- let the demi-human win.

By Collin on Sunday, March 03, 2002 - 01:55 am:

I see, I see. So this goes along with,
"Rule 1: Ramsus is always right"
"Rule 2: If Ramsus is wrong, see rule 1"? ^^
