I've been interested in politics since the foundation of the Progressive Democrats many many moons ago, and the events of the time have informed much of my political thought.
The first election I was really interested in was the 1990 Presidential Election. With the whole phonecalls scandal, and the sacking of Brian Lenihan Sr. (RIP). 'Irish' politics is a very interesting area; we have our own domestic politics in the 26 county Republic of Ireland, our dealings with the 6-county Northern Ireland, and our ever extending dealings with what is now the European Union.
One further point, I've heard people compare Irish politics as alphabet soup, so to aid the unfamiliar here's a reasonably comprehensive Glossary of Terms and Acronyms. Hopefully, these will be a help with understanding Irish Politics, but the glossary is not just a political reference.
This is one section I really need to work on in a big way, however, if you're looking for EU related information, you can't go too far wrong with theEuropa Server
