The town of Launceston, taken from near the mouth of Cataract Gorge.

And that's where I'm going.

A place with the stupendously cool name of Deadman's Hollow.

Taken upstream from a suspension bridge near the old power station, the corner
the stream takes in the distance there has the stupendously silly name of
Deadman's Knob.

This plaque is part of the hostel I'm staying in - J.W. Pepper, better-known as
the cantankerous red-neck Sheriff from Live and Let Die and The Man With the
Golden Gun, makes good!

This is a stuffed Tasmanian tiger, which are extinct (unless you believe the
crazy people). This particular specimen was snared in 1912 and purchased by
the museum the same year for one pound (the cost of a new rifle in them days).

This is, of course, a statue of William Russ Pugh, who as we all know is
most famous for being credited with the first use of ether for surgical
purposes in the southern hemisphere.
