Second Major Quality Award for Cairdeas Childcare Centre

In February 2009 Cairdeas received the All Ireland Centre of Excellence award in recognition of the excellent standard of care and education provided by the centre.

In February 2012 we are delighted to announce that we have attained the highest standard achievable through the Síolta National Quality Framework.

Síolta was developed as a National Quality Framework by the Department of Education and Science for the Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) sector in Ireland. It was designed to allow a broad variety of ECCE settings to address all dimensions of provision and practice from the indoor and outdoor environments to the interactions between those participating in the service and the wider community in which the setting is located.

In order to achieve this award Cairdeas was required to put in place a quality assurance programme across the 16 Síolta standards which are: The Rights of the Child; Parents and Families; Consultation; Interactions; Planning and Evaluation; Organisation; Professional Practise; Curriculum; Play; Environments; Communication; Interactions; Identity and Belonging; Legislation and Regulation; Health and Welfare; and Community Involvement.

Cairdeas is only the sixth service in the country so far to have successfully completed the Síolta Quality Award and the first full day care setting to achieve the standard.
