Ildon has arrived.
Dazil, West Mercantile Area
This side of town appears to be more organized, although it still is plagued with the random scattering of crates, boxes, and the such. Of course, being an excavation city, it most likely would not even be about if not for the trade, and this mess is only a side effect of the business. Behind a small <curtain> lies yet another small house of Dazil's, but across from it stands a small <Gear> parts shop. Yet another <building> bears a small sign before it, reading: "Workshop Admin." You assume that this is refering to the Ethos Worshop which lies, amoung other things, to the <west>. Walking unter the stone <bridge> to the east will take you back to the other side of the town.

Brin strolls nonchalantly across the square. 'Stroll' being a merely descriptive word, it is more of a sidle, as he glances around the square, as if he were looking for someone, or rather, looking to avoid someone. His gun holster empty, he cannot help but look a little lost, but he is trying to put a brave face on this, his first visit back to the desert city, after the...unpleasantness.
Ildon looks at Brin walking around... he seems uncomfortable. Ildon has more important things to do than wander, however. He runs over to his friend. "Brin," he says, startling the Etone from behind.
Brin whirls round, and half-motions for his empty gun holster. A foolish move, perhaps. He risks either the owner of the voice being offended, or shooting him. As he turns his head, he notices the familiar hooded figure, and his hands drop to his side, as he comes to a halt. "Agh. You startled me!...", a smile of relief crosses Brin's face as every muscle in his body begins to relax from its petrified state. "Greetings. I see you've left your forest haven. How goes it for you?..." Brin seems interested in what the eager Ildon has to say.
Ildon smiles. "I have made a decision that you may be interested to hear. I'm going to offer myself to aiding the Rebels in the war. I spoke with a Gebler officer recently... not a good experience. It made me realize that, sometimes, there are good and bad sides to a war. Those blood-thirsty titans are going to serve to bury too many innocents. I want to stop them, at any cost." He reviews his words. Sounds like father... heh...
Brin gently scratches his chin. "That is...admirable...". o 0 ( ...hmmm. Almost as if he was...polling each side to see which side to join... ) "That is..." he breaks off, and stares down at the ground at his feet. After a few seconds, he gives up. "to tell you the truth Ildon, I don't know what it is. Do you really feel you have to get involved? What I mean to ask is, why would you join one side of the conflict, when you truly believe in the ideals of neither side?". He looks down again o 0 ( ...It's almost like getting involved for the sake of fighting. Which, from a pacifist seems...strange... ). "I don't wish to offend you, but have you thought this through ?". He looks up at Ildon, directly in the eyes. "Really?".
Ildon looks at Brin curiously. Remember who you once were, Ildon. You once had no desire to fight. Yet now, Ildon desired nothing more. "Brin, I need to aid the ending of this war. I know now that the only way to end some things is to participate..." He trails off and puts a hand into his pocket nervously.
Brin thinks for a long time o 0 ( ...hm. I guess to an extent he has a point. I'm involved, wether I like it or not. I guess in such a chaotic war, it doesnt matter to the average person which side they're on....Except, he was just as preapred to join gebler...disturbing... ). He looks up. "I suppose...if it is your will, then who am I to stand in your way? I urge you to think before doing on theis matter, however".
Ildon frowns at Brin. "Don't patronize me, friend. I have been thinking for an entire _week_ about this, in solitude in Blackmoon. I know exactly what I am doing!" He stops himself. He had just blown up at a good friend. What was he becoming? He shakes it off. "Brin... sorry about that. Just... it has been a long time since I have seen civilization. Do you understand? I need you to take me to the Rebel base where you are stationed, so I can speak with whoever is in authority. Please, Brin."
Brin looks directly at Ildon, and smiles slightly. "I see...that you have not entered to this decision lightly. I shall not question your decision again. And, apologies are not necessary...". He scratches his chin lightly. "I...however, would not like to become known as a recruiter for the rebels, however....It would be..." he frowns deeply, "...unbecoming...". He looks up at Ildon again, and grins conspiratorially. "Of course, erm, if a person were to...follow without my knowledge...I would have know way of knowing...You do understand my situation?".
Ildon nods. "Of course I do, Brin. However, I was kind of counting on your support in this case. Still, are you sure that they will be so welcoming towards me, if I were to simply show up? They might be suspicious of something."
Quetzal (Gear) falls asleep.
Brin sighs. "I consider you a friend, Ildon. But there are some things, because of my profession, that I simply cannot do. Recruiting you as a pirate is one of them. You should be warned, however, that conditions there are...less than comfortable at the moment", he almost grins, the understatement ringing. "...although I am unsure what their reaction might be. May be, maybe not. Most people who mean well are welcome there, I suspect...". He thinks. "Of course, since you do not share my...protected status as an Etone, you probably might not be welcomed by Gebler in Dazil as you are now...", he adds.
Ildon smirks suddenly at something that Brin said, but shakes it off. "Sorry... I know what you are saying, and I agree. I really do wish to offer my support in this war. If not just for the sake of ending it..." he trails off and looks into the sky. "Did I ever tell you where I come from, Brin?"
Brin sighs, and nods lightly. "I believe you.". o 0 ( ...for the sake of argument... ). He notes Ildon's question, and replies "No. I don't think you did...".
Ildon sighs. He is worthy of hearing my story, I suppose. "I spent the first portion of my childhood in Solaris, as a lower-class citizen. There I witnessed many things... the slaving and torture of my fellow man. I was lucky to be placed in the Med unit, but I saw many atrocities. Most of them were due to some sort of war, or preperations for some kind of a war. It really made me think unwisely about the whole thing. My father... died for some reason, one day. They told me that he died of illness, but I heard whispers that he was killed in some training excersize. Fearing for my life, I abandoned my mother and ran to Shevat. I spent a long time there, just writing for a small newspaper. Just a year ago I arrived on the surface world..."
Brin nods calmly at all this. "Solaris is like that? I was...under the impression that it was some kind of floating paradise. That is...unfortunate...". Looking up at Ildon, Brin continues. "Perhaps I was wrong. So, you wish to join the pirates because of this? Then why did you need to choose between the pirates or Gebler?..." he realises the bluntness of his statement. "I am sorry, your story is...an unfortunate one. But I am simply curious...".
Quetzal (Gear) wakes up.
Ildon closes his eyes. This is taxing on his memories. He opens them, looking past Brin, not in the eyes. "I have had misconceptions before, Brin. I need to know more about everything before I am quick to conclude. I know now that what I saw as a child was genuine. Solaris can't own the continent... they just can't. Too much would be lost. Do you see now? I know that my father was a great man, but how could I have judged an entire country, when I only saw a small portion of it?"
Brin nods again. "I understand. Forgive my presumptuousness...." He knowingly looks at Ildon. "You know that I cannot bring you to the base?...It is not my place. And if they decide they don't want you there, then what? I'll have betrayed their trust for nothing. Please forgive me, but please do not ask me to do what I cannot."... he looks down at the ground, avoiding eye contact.
Ildon nods in understanding. "Alright, I suppose that I could idly "follow" you there. I will even be so kind as to act as though we are strangers. You are really helping me out, Brin. I hope that you realize this. Please, just tell me when you are leaving. I'll take care of the rest."
Brin shakes his head. "There is no need. Even if you were to tell them you followed me, it would probably not matter to me. Once they think I did not know, it should be safe to let them know we know each other. I want to decieve them as little as possible, you understand..." he idly scratches his chin. "You of course realise that if they discover I led you here...It would not go well for either of us...You know what I mean?". Despite Brin's calm nature, he is still an Etone. Anyone exposing him as a collaborator, or otherwise descredit him would have to be...dealt with. Friend or foe... 2I shall be leaving presently...".
