The Lucky Avenue Bar
This is a small, quaint little bar, cooled by two small ceiling fans, and broad and wide enough for a decent amount of seating space. A small rocking chair sits in the back next to a small barrel; but the pale blue stone bar dominates most of this room. Decked with liquors and cheap wines, it stands open for any and all who wish to come by. A shaded <stairway> in the back leads upstairs. A worn wooden <door> leads out.

Casske grins. "Okay then. Still, if you'd met her, you'd... eh, forget it. So... first things first... planning is good, but before we do anything, we gotta find the place. There may be a chance they'll just let me in, with my marvelous Gebler background."
Casske (OOC) says, "Okay."
Dakota (OOC) wonders what happened to Sedge.
Casske (OOC) says, "He probably got his hand stuck in a toaster..."
Brin (OOC) grins
Dakota (OOC) says, "Oooo ouchies. @_@"
Casske (OOC) says, "Gotta go..."
Sedge has disconnected.
Dakota (OOC) blinks. "Ummm...oops. So how are you Brin?"
Brin (OOC) says, "fine fine. No lectures tomorrow, so I've some time to spend here. Which is always good."
Dakota (OOC) nods. "Must be nice then. :)"
Sedge has connected.
Sedge (OOC) DOHS "whered Casske go?"
Dakota (OOC) says, "No idea, he just said that he had to go then disconnected."
Sedge (OOC) hrmmms and guesses He'll just have gone outside a sec before returning
Dakota (OOC) nods.
Dakota has connected.
Dakota has disconnected.
Sedge (OOC) soo DBS or BDS?
Dakota violently attacks her computer.
Brin (OOC) doesnt mind.
Brin (OOC) is the quiet religious type anyway :)
Dakota (OOC) says, "bad lag!" falls over.
Sedge (OOC) is having lag too
Brin (OOC) is sort of OK, the other 5 people sharing this modem are asleep :)
Sedge (OOC) asks, "so whats it gonna be ? DBS or BDS or what?"
Dakota (OOC) says, "Oops. Probably shouldn't have knocked that peice off the computer. @_@ We...just won't tell anyone I did that...^_^;;; So Brin, do you want to go first?" No...that wasn't a hint..not at all...
Brin (OOC) says, "lets say DBS"
Dakota (OOC) exclaims, "DOH!"
Brin (OOC) says, "oh, all right then, BDS"
Brin (OOC) tuts
Brin emerges from the upper room, and notices the faces in the bar. He nods in recognition, and takes his by-now-usual seat at the end of the bar.
Dakota wanders aimlessly through the door, a blank look of thought on her face, she doesn't notice anyone, nor does she realize there are two people she knows nearby.
Sedge (OOC) isnt nereby just yet =p
Dakota (OOC) knocks that part off.
Sedge catches the door on before it closes after Dakota, he moves back in, raising his head from the screen of the computer in his palm to look over at the now empty seat Casske had sat at only minutes before, frowning slightly he guesses he'll have to wait till later to show him his plans. He waves to Dakota on his way over to a seat at the bar, gaze still focused on his computer.
As he orders a drink, Brin notices the rather engrossed version of Sedge, and nods a greeting, not speaking still. He takes an interest in Sedges palm computer, as he has not seen one before. Apart from that, he remains silent still.
Dakota (OOC) mumbles and unplugs the phone.
Sedge (OOC) asks, "bad day Dakota?"
Dakota blinks, almost startled. "Hello." She just stands in the doorway, almost confused...a minute ago she could have sworn she was still in the desert.
Dakota (OOC) nods. "Something like that."
Sedge (OOC) had a better day then the previous one...
Dakota (OOC) nods. "Thats good."
Sedge (OOC) didnt walk long distances today
Brin (OOC) says, "peh, walking is overrated :)"
Sedge looks up from the computer to glance at Dakota, as if he hadnt relized it was her as he passed her on his way in "hey Dakota" he grins "sorry 'bout that, zoned out I guess."
Sedge (OOC) had to walk loooong ways yesterday
Brin takes an interest again in Sedges computer, and turns his head to look at it as it lies on the bar surface. He finally breaks his silence. "An Interesting Design. I have not seen one of these before. Was it salvaged?". His light Aquvy accent is slight, yet firm, as he glances up at Sedge.
Dakota looks around, still trying to figure out what the heck happened to keep her from realizing where she was going before just shruging it off and wandering over to the bar to sit by Brin and Sedge. "Thats ok. You normally are." She grins slyly and smiles at Brin. "Hello Brin, decided to take a walk?"
Sedge glances down the bar at Brin "eh...you're kidding right? Lotsa people have these" he motions toward the palm computer, frowning slightly "and most have better" he mutters before looking back at Dakota "..wonder if that was an insult or not" he grins "oh well" he goes back to staring at the plans on the monitor in his hand.
Brin looks taken aback. "Ah. Apologies. I'm not familiar with this area at all.". He stares quizzically as Sedge mutters something, and turns in his seat as Dakota addresses him. "Yes. One can only stand to wander about a stuffy empty ship for so long.". He assumes a thoughful look at that last comment, and pauses for a second. "I had heard something of the salvaging operations, and remember once being here during training."
Dakota blinks. "Salvaging operations?" She shrugs slightly and looks blankly at Sedge's computer, trying rather hard to understand what it says before shaking her head and wrinkling her face, giving up. "How can you use that thing Sedge? It's nuts..."
Sedge looks up and shrugs, raising the computer so that she can see the layout of the gear "nuts? a bit old of a computer but at least it works right?" he indicates the gear "just gotta know how to use it I guess."
Brin blinks. "I heard once of excavations around dazil. Perhaps they have ceased, or I'm mistaken". He blushes, and assumes his confused face.
Dakota nods slightly. "Thats...thats a gear right?" She herself looks rather confused but doesn't try to understand the palm computer any further then that. "Oh, yeah I've seen some of the digsites around here...there was three of them wasn't there?
Sedge suddenly flips off the computer nodding "right, and the excavations you heard about were prolly ours, Casske is getting some parts dug up to use in making our new gear."
You say, "Ah. So you're a gear designer?"
Dakota sits quietly, just listening since she knows little about gears. And thinks that perhaps listening might give her a little bit of knowledge on the topic.
Sedge shrugs "I try" he grins "but you're going to hafta ask Casske about the excavaions, I dont know much about how he intends to proceed with them."
Brin nods. "I see. I've not a particular interest in the excavations, just knew of their existence", he grins. "What type of gear are you building?"
Dakota blinks, trying to pick up innformation still.
Sedge glances around "eh well, thats somewhat of a secret, dont think Casske would be too happy if I let it out to just anyone"
Brin nods. "I understand". Hoping to change the subject, he turns to Dakota. "So, what is it that you do in Dazil? I suspect you're not simply here out of boredom too?". He grins slightly.
Dakota shrugs. "Actually, well...yeah pretty much out of boredom...well, sometimes I...emm..." she trails off, remembering that they weren't alone at the moment, and releasing information like that could get her into serious trouble...not to mention danger...
Sedge quirks an eyebrow and looks over at Dakota "eh? somthing not for Gebler ears?" he asks , a wry grin going across his face, though he's at least slightly disapointed, feeling like he's being left out of somthing.
Brin nods again, and runs out of subjects to change to. He takes another sip at his drink, and stares intently at the patterns on the srface of the bar. Silence...
Dakota shakes her head lightly. "Its not that Sedge...I trust you but, we're in a bar full of people and talking about this can get me into serious trouble, and endanger both of us...its not something I intend to do..." She whispers quietly to him.
Sedge shrugs "ok then" he looks back over at Brin "so what are you doing around Dazil? Or are you just passing through?" he asks, trying to change the subject.
a Slightly pained look crosses Brin's face. "To tell the truth, boredom brought me to Dazil. I've been assigned to a...shall we say...quiet spot nearby, and given the lack of things to do, i decided to spend a while here, if only to get to know people."
Sedge smirks and little and leans back against the bar "came to the wrooong place friend" he starts "one, this place is in the middle of a desert, not exactly an exciting location. 2" he glances over at Dakota, a sly grin on his face "you've already met the most interesting person around here, me" he says jokingly.
Dakota smiles lightly and decides it would be better not to voice the fact that the base is rather well known about by Joseph, Casske and Sedge...she drops her jaw slightly at Sedges remark and shoves him...gently, but still shoves him.
Sedge (OOC) wonders why his name would be listed in the well known list
Dakota (OOC) says, "B/c you know thats where I'm from."
Brin smiles broadly. "Well, I'm sure you're friend's confirmation of that fact is more then adequate endorsement". He notes Dakota's slightly-more-than-playful shove.
Dakota (OOC) blinks. "wha?'"
Dakota (OOC) Thinks she should be skipped this time while she feeds the pets.
Sedge shoves Dakota back gently "she just doesn't want it to get out" he grins "so..where exactly have you been -posted- as you said?"
Brin (OOC) says, "confirmation of the fact that he's the most interesting guy around. Excuse the vagueness."
Dakota (OOC) nods. "Ah, sorry, thought you meant I was trying to kill him. ^_^;"
Dakota (OOC) blinks. "No...that doesn't sound right either..." shuts up before she digs herself into a hole.
Sedge (OOC) decides not to throw her in the one already large enouth to hold her
Brin frowns slightly, and lowers his voice. "Well, I'm basically a chaplain to, er, a group of...entrepreneurs who specialise in, erm, asset relocation, i believe. Specifically to a ship of theirs."
Dakota (OOC) gllllaaarrres. "Quiet you."
Brin (OOC) says, "play nice, you two. :)"
Dakota glares jokingly and sticks her tongue out at both of them. "He's with the ever legendary and oh-so-great 'Dakota worshippers'" she jokes, though it held enough of a hint that she hopes Sedge had picked up and gets the idea to end further questions about it.
Sedge quirks an eyebrow "eh...right, anyway.." he murmers quietly, rolling his eyes and picking up his computer from the bar " -some- of us have -work- to do" he grins over his shoulder at Dakota before resuming his usual task of frowning, typing, frowning some more, and a bit of no frowning here and there.
Brin starts. "With" is such a decisive word, he would prefer not to take sides in whatever it is Thse "entrepreneurs" are up to. Since the subject has been dropped though, he chooses not to mention any more on it, even though he senses Sedge knows more then either of them are choosing to show. He stares idly at the wall, and resumes his customary silence.
Dakota quirks a brow watching Sedges expressions change randomly through frowning. "Sedge...you really need to take a 'holiday' from that for a while..." she frowns a bit, still watching.
Sedge shrugs "things gotta get done somehow, I figure Joseph and Casske aint gonna do it" he grins "guess that means I get the work of all three of us" though he says it jokingly, it may be slightly more truthfull that he lets on.
Brin orders another drink, and sighs slightly. Although his time on the Empty Sand Cruiser was boring enough, he still worries that there may be poeple there needing his help. Perhaps he shouldn't have left? Some would call him negligent for that. At the moment, he doesn't care. It's too hot. He takes a long drink from his glass, and resumes his thoughts.
Dakota seems troubled about this work non stop thing that both men seem to feel, though she had sensed Brin's devotion to his duties when she had first met him. She frowns slightly and stares at the wall.
Sedge blinks and looks up, blinking a few more times as his eyes come back into focus, he curses inwardly at himself for giving himself a headach. Turning back to Dakota he asks "Sooo..whatcha been up to all day?"
Brin (OOC) says, "Brin's in cloud cuckoo land for this turn. i need to go get a drink myself :)"
Dakota (OOC) says, "Okie."
Sedge (OOC) nods
Dakota inhales deeply. "Well...I guess I trained for about...5 hours, rested for 1 hour, considered going back...didn't go back...ehhh..." she looks completly confused by this point. "I hadn't actually realized I trained for -that- long...no wonder I'm sore...well, after that I don't really remember what I was doing...just kinda...found myself here eventually..." She blinks. "What've you been up to? Working all day?"
Sedge grins sheepishly and nods "yeah...I guess so" he stands up and stretches, his unused legs nearly buckling. "so..you didnt let Casske talk you into a drink I hope? seems like you would remember where you've been all day."
Dakota shakes her head, a bit surprised. "Of course not..." she says in her usual gentle tones. "Guess I just phazed out for a bit thats all..."
Brin (OOC) is back
Dakota (OOC) says, "W/B :)"
Sedge shrugs and nods, deciding not to go deeper into the subject "well I guess my day was pretty uneventfull" he murmers, sounding somewhat suprised himself as he looks outside at the dark street, it hadnt seemed like he'd worked -that- long.
Sedge (OOC) wavies and now the poses are in order again =p
Brin turns his head. "Training? Are you some sort of soldier, athlete of some sort?"
Dakota nods. "I thought you knew that. I'm a ground combat soldier for our group...actually, I'm supposed to be learning how to pilot a gear...hmmm..." she thinks to herself...'maybe that's why I haven't gone back yet...' "Well, it's not an official thing, but I think thats why they keep me around." she looks quietly around the room, possibly to make sure no one heard her, or maybe just out of reflex.
Sedge hrrmms and nods, sitting back down and putting his computer away, obviously having enouth of it for one night, he yawns lightly and looks over at Dakota "well if you're suposed to be learning how to pilot gears, why aren't you back at the base?"
Dakota (OOC) -_- should've seen that one coming.
Sedge (OOC) -_- wasnt toooo hard to see was it?
Dakota (OOC) is blind apparently.
Brin nods. "You seemed a little confused as to what, where and exactly how you were first time we met.". He frowns a little, not intending for that to sound so insensitive. "That is, I was rather more concerned as to your health at that time." He blushes again. "Oh my.".
Dakota blinks. "Uhhmmmm....well...I'm sure they're busy right now....or...something..." She murmers, not exactly willing to admit anything at the moment, she turns to Brin. "Yeah but...I think you caught me at a bad time...I believe that was the day after I regained consciousness after having been electrocuted soo...I had been out for at least a week, I was a bit disorientated...thats all..."
Sedge quirks an eyebrow "..now what happened again?" he asks, tilting his head "must've been before my arival around here...." he hates it when he misses out on somthing "how'd you get 'lectricuted? Dakota?"
Brin seems curious as to the answer to that question also, and looks toward Dakota for her answer.
Dakota sighs, resting her head on the bar counter. "Theres an area in the desert thats about 4 feet or so of glass...just glass...well, I was visiting Kale and Joseph came out with a few of his troops, all dressed in rubber suits..." she squints a bit. "I should've seen it coming...they started constructing a piece of machinary as quickly as they could, right behind the nomad camp...they were out to destroy the sand worm...the thing they were building was a tessla coil..." she shudders...her worst fears in life are whips and electricity, how ironic... "Of everyone that had been there that day, only myself, Kale, Joseph and Ikken Hisatsu, I believe thats his name, survived..." she frowns deeply, her head still rested on the counter, the look in her eyes makes it rather obvious that this event will always trouble her.
Dakota (OOC) blinks. "Ehhh....long! @_@"
Brin (OOC) says, "long is good :)"
Sedge leans back, whisling "egh...guess Im lucky it was before I came around" he murmers quietly, finding yet another reason to like Joseph less. he glances at Dakota sympatheticly "sounds horible" he shudders at the thought and yawns again.
Brin frowns. " A Terrible Accident...But it is always a blessing that there are survivors. The fact that you survived can give you strength". He takes a sip from his drink again.
Dakota nods silently, mentally renewing her vow to destroy the war as it is. "Yeah...s'pose so..."
Brin (OOC) says, "order? :)"
Dakota (OOC) asks, "Ummm, I think its Sedge isn't it?"
Dakota (OOC) wonders if Sedge got stuck in the toaster again.
Brin (OOC) grins
Brin (OOC) might want to finish up soon maybe, it being 4 in the morning and all.
Dakota (OOC) says, "Eeep...4am? its only 10pm here. Hmmm...I have no idea what Happened to Sedge."
Brin (OOC) says, "hmm. He appears to be on twice"
Dakota (OOC) nods. "I'm assuming hes having computer troubles, should we just say he stepped out for a minute then?"
Brin (OOC) says, "okay"
Brin (OOC) says, "oops, it's me int it? dang."
Dakota (OOC) nods. ^_^
Brin studies Dakota, seeing the look of sheer determination on her face, and sighs lightly. She seems utterly prepared to fight, and perhaps die for this war. And yet, she's a startling individual, with a stong and sharp mind. He ponders on the origins of this war, and wonders if any war is worth wasting individuals like Dakota. He seems troubled, and remains silent throughout, peering sideways atDakota.
Dakota (OOC) is touched. ^_^
Brin (OOC) sniffles.
Brin (OOC) says, "sometimes i just outdo myself. *sobs*"
Sedge has disconnected.
Dakota frowns lightly and sits up straight, she still doesn't know what the war was caused by but has become so tired of the countless wasted lives and shredded innocence that lay in its wake and doubts she ever will find out but...she could not stand silently by when she could at least try. She looks around the room, eventually noticing the expression on Brin's face. "Is everything alright?"
Sedge has disconnected.
Brin flicks his hand in front of his face quickly, perhaps dismissively. "It's nothing." he croaks, unconvincingly. "It's never the easiest o subjects to talk or think about.".
Dakota nods, forcing a smile, even if it did appear somewhat grim. "Yeah...so how were things at the base before you left?"
Brin says, "Quiet. Mostly your average number of people there. i don't know who the leader is, and was afraid to ask, so i simply roamed about helping people as best I can. You wrere actually the only person of note who needed my help."
Dakota tilts her head a bit. "I did? Err...*ahem*" she straightens herself out a bit. "Actually, theres two leaders I think...Bart, the man with blonde hair and an eyepatch, and Sigurd, he's the one with very dark skin, silvery white hair and an eyepatch as well. I can't help but wonder if they were both in the same accident that caused them to need those eyepatches but" She shrugs slightly and asks the bartender for a glass of water.
Casske has connected.
Casske (OOC) says, "Good god..."
Dakota (OOC) blinks. "What?"
Casske (OOC) says, "Somebody flushed me down a toilet..."
Dakota (OOC) looks -very- confused.
Brin nods. "I shall have to speak with one or the other when I get back"
Brin (OOC) says, "Yeah, hate when that happens."
Brin (OOC) really really really must go soon.
Casske (OOC) says, "If you like, I can jump in and prolong the inevitable..."
Dakota nods, smiling slightly. "They're actually very nice." She takes a sip of the water, still looking at the wall. "When are you going back?"
Dakota (OOC) nods.
Brin stares thoughtfully at the condensation on his glass. "Soon, I should think. There's a lot to do."
Dakota (OOC) asks, "Casske, are you going to RP or are you just around for a while?"
Casske (OOC) asks, "I could RP, I suppose. What's the order?"
Dakota (OOC) says, "Doesn't matter I think."
Brin (OOC) is going now
Dakota nods. "Yeah..." she smiles slightly and waves.
Casske comes running in, and almost knocks Brin over. "I am -the- man!"
Brin suddenly gets up from his stool. "Goodbye, for now.", he says. He is suddenly bowled over by Casske's rather rude entry. He brushes himself off, glares at Casske, and makes his way towards the stairs.
