Dakota (OOC) nods. "Alright."
Dakota (OOC) says, "Could you make the first pose? Gotta get something."
Brin (OOC) says, "ok"
Dakota (OOC) says, "Thanks."
Brin sits quietly at the end of one of the log counters in the middle of the dining hall, a small cup of the all-too rare tea he has managed to coax out of one of the kitchen crew warming his hands. He takes a small sip, and studies a small stain on the counter, looking for all thw world as if his head were about to drop onto said counter in boredom. o 0 ( Ho hum. Sleep, drink tea. Repeat. That's no fun. ) He takes a long look around the hall at the faces of the other crewmen and residents, recognising few of them. His gaze returns to the pattern of the leaves at the bottom of his now-empty cup.
With the soft whir of mechanical doors, the young female enters the once forgotten steel room of the pirate base. (...I probably shouldn't have stayed away so long...I wonder...) she muses to herself, stepping into the room and smiling politly at Brin, getting a glass of water from the kitchen crew.
As the mechanism of the door begins its soft whooshing sound, Brin's head snaps upright, as if he had somehow been caught nodding off, when someone who would possibly care about that were present. His drooping eyes move to the doorway, and recognises a familiar face. His features instantly become slightly more animated, and his ears prick up very slightly. o 0 ( My. I've not seen her about here for a while. ) He watches her as she obtains her drink, and acknowledges her greeing. "Good Evening", he says, in a slightly bemused tone. He leans back in his chair, and nods politely in return.
Dakota smiles and walks over to join him, sitting across the table. "Hello. It's been a while...Brin right?" She takes a sip of the water, looking around the room to see if anything had changed before directing her attention back to him.
Brin nods, and returns to his more relaxed position, one elbow each side of the empty mug. "Yes, that's right", he nods again. "And Dakota...", he goes to pick up his cup again, but remembers it's empty. "Drat...so, it has indeed been a while. What's been occupying oyur time lately?" He seems interested to know of the world outside, even if it is from the perspective of one person's experience. o 0 ( ...something more exciting than this, I imagine... )
Dakota nods politly in return of the gesture. "Mainly Dazil, a few odd happenings as of late, just a few random things I decided to check on. For now though, things seem to have calmed...as far as Dazil goes." She avoids speaking of Fort Jasper, afraid he too was only going to nag about it.
Brin (OOC) says, "Well, I don't know what happened there anyway, apart from th whole solaris-nobbling-it thing :)"
Dakota (OOC) chuckles. "ICly I'm going into that, aside from the various people that tell her not to. Thats what I meant. :)"
Brin nods, and smiles. "Well, Dazil, even when quiet, manages to seem exciting compared to here." He gestures around the room. "Still, one can't complain. Most in the base can't even able to leave here, with the ID checks on major towns". He grins. "It's a good thing I have ID, i can at least bring back some small comforts to people who would not be able to get them themselves."...He seems pleased by this, as if that small contributions somehow made hsi continued presence here seem worthwhile. "Odd Happenings? Do tell. I have time. LOTS of time". He grins at this.
Brin (OOC) says, "ICly Brin probably doesnt know what Ft. Jasper is :)"
Dakota chuckles lightly, smiling a little. "Thats quite kind of you. Being caged in these steel walls simply isn't...easy. I'm sure they appreciatte it. As for the odd happenings, there've been several. Though, mainly to do more with myself in particular then with the pirates. Though, there was a supposed meteor that crashed nearby, just in front of Lahan I believe. But, it wasn't a meteor...it was actually a gear carrying a rather...strange man. Quite nice actually. But I haven't seen him around lately."
Brin (OOC) says, "ick, sorry, i was pulled away from pc for a minute. Posing now..."
Dakota (OOC) says, "Thats alright. :)"
Brin (OOC) says, "Someone found the old webpage of one of my housemates. Much laughing and pointing ensued."
Dakota (OOC) chuckles.
Brin seems interested in this last piece of news. Almost too interested, but this is perhaps understandable given his sheltered existence lately. "A Gear? Where did it come from? Strange in what way? Was he not hurt?"...he leans back and stares over her shoulder. o 0 ( I'm pestering her ) ... 2Sorry for all the questions. I just like to keep informed. It helps, ifonly to make conversation". He smiles.
Dakota nods her head, retaining her own smile. "It's not a problem, I'm still quite curious about it myself. His name is Xeero, but I don't know where he came from. And when I came across him, he seemed none the worse for wear as far as I could tell."
Brin looks puzzled. "Strange. One would think a gear crash would cause some sort of injury. And no-one knows where he's from? That _is_ strange." he swirls around the leaves in the bottom of his cup, and stares at them as they come to rest. "I, myself had a streange encounter with a gear rider not long ago." he squints, and stares into space. "Kheia, was it? Yes, Kheia. A ... strange girl" o 0 ( And so sad ... ). He stares into space behind Dakota, and lapses into though for a few seconds. He snaps back into reality, and looks back at Dakota. "Yes. that's been pretty much the highlight of my time here. Or at least, the most exciting part" ... Paint drying is exciting around this place. A strange solarian prancing about with a gear is practically ... unreal.
Dakota blinks, tilting her head a little. "...Kheia? Who was she?" She seems interested enough, though lately shes become quite god at hiding her interest to the point it has become perhaps a habit. Though, the tone of her voice is enough to show her interest is set high enough.
Brin looks around, and speaks. "She appeared to be just out running in the desert, chasing her pet cat. I caught it for her, and appeared to win her favour" He grins, and continues. "She claimed to be from The Floating City, and had come in her own gear." ... he nods at this comment, as if to affirm his suspicions as to which floating city. "Actually now I think of it, I promised not to tell anyone. " He leans back, a look of sheepishness crossing his face. "Oh my."
Dakota shrugs lightly, giving a reasurring smile. "Don't worry, I already know about the 'Floating City' and their secrecy. And either way, I won't tell anyone."
Brin nods, and grins. "I fear most people about now know about Solaris. It was more her worry that somehow I'd tell her father she'd come here.", he gently laughs. "I suspect that being scolded by her father would be preferable to the treatment I would get for attempting to tell on her. I suspect she is safe." ... "Although I never though to mention it to Sigurd. Hmm" He thinks for a while. "Perhaps that is best. She seemed harmless enough." o 0 ( ...and exploitable. and oblivious to her situation almost. So very sad... ).
Dakota ahs softly and nods her head understanding. "Yes, I see what you mean. But you're right, theres little point in telling Sigurd, I'm sure he has far too much on his mind as it is." she grimaces at the thought before sitting the glass down, now empty.
Brin looks into his tea mug. "Yes, I suspect so. And an Etone wandering about the base, which is run by someone so close to the mother of Nisan is ... a lsight complication..." He grins, and stands up, craning his neck toward the counter where the kitchen staff are. He glances down at Dakota's Empty glass as he starts for the counter. "Another?"
Brin (OOC) asks, "Speaking of which, I'm going to make real tea. I'll be a few minutes, ok?"
Dakota shakes her head politly. "No, I'm fine thank you. Err...forgive me, but I'm not familier at all with the Etones...why would it be a complication that you're here?" her head is tilted in a rather curious expression.
Dakota (OOC) nods. "Alrighty :)"
Brin (OOC) says, "back"
Dakota (OOC) says, "WB"
Brin walks over to the kitchen counter, and has a short conversation with the kitchen staff on duty. He returns with a glass of water, and resumes his seat. 2Well, that's the last of the tea" he grins wryly, as he takes the first sip of water from the glass. He then answers the question "Oh? You're not familiar with the differences between the faiths? Well, friction may be caused, perhaps, by the fundamental differences in doctrine. To put it in few words, The Ethos doctrine states that God is not necessarily tangible, but is a seperate presence, or being. The Nisan Sect believe that God is to be found inside each one of us, and is not a being as such. That kind of fundamental difference is what may cause an Etone such as myself to cause discontent among the mainly Nisan-folowing resident of the base."
Dakota blinks, scrunching her face a little in confusion. Her head is tilting slightly as she thinks about it for a moment. "...God?" (again I hear about this funny 'God' person...how on earth can so many people worship him yet where is he to be found? In each of us? Aye...now I -really- confused...)
Brin smiles. "The Concept can be hard to grasp at first, but think about it. Who created the world? Most religions, including the Ethos, believe that God created the world." ... he pauses ... "Can you imagine a being that powerful? Can you imagine how we should fear such a being?"
Dakota twitches, shaking her head a little. "...how can -anything- create the world? It's just too big...I...just can't grasp the idea that soemthing could actually do that...and why fear it? If it created us, why would it want to destroy us? I'm sorry...I just don't understand these things I guess." she shrugs lightly, she had known she lived quite the unsocialized life, rarly exposed to any other, but this she could not grasp no matter how hard she tried.
Brin shakes his head, and smiles wider. "I mean 'fear' in the biblical sense. We should repect it, and give thanks for its creation of us. That is what is usually meant by 'fear' in this case. Fully grasping the idea of a being that created the world cannot usually be done straightaway. Think of what God did as sowing the seed from which the world grew. It's the greatest gift any being could bestow upon us. Try to reflect on that from time to time, and ask if you have any questions." ... he observes Dakota's confused look. "Although i won't dwell on it right now."
Dakota blinks, her face twisting through expressions as her thoughts shift back and forth. "...but how can anyone be -that- big? How could he possibly survive if he had no world to live from? Hmm, maybe you're right...I don't think I'll dwell on it right now either..."
Brin nods in agreement. "Are you planning on staying at the base long? People seem to just come and go lately..."
Dakota shrugs lightly. "I..don't often stay here for more then a day or two at a time. Then again, I don't often stayt in any building for more then that. I feel too caged. But I'll likely return soon enough, I just can't stay in these metal confinments for too long though...it drives me mad. Why do you ask?"
Brin leans back in his seat. "No reason really. It's just nice to have someone to talk to who's actually out travelling a lot." ... He stares off at the opposite wall o 0 ( ...Of course, I could have _been_ someone who's out travelling a lot, if it weren't for ... ). He fingers one of the metal tips on his staff, and shifts his weight slightly in his seat. "It's nice to hear about something that isn't moaning for the lack of luxuries." He smiles.
Set.
Dakota smiles lightly in response nodding her head shortly. "Perhaps you should come along sometime. On average I don't get into much trouble, but its nice to get out of here isn't it?" she chuckles softly, shrugging a little.
Brin seems startled by this. "Me? Well, I..." o 0 ( ...wouldn't that be just like...abandoning my post... ? ... ) he looks flustered. "I...I Don't know really. Part of me wants to, but these people need me..." ... o 0 ( ... in theory ... ). "I shall have to...to think..." o 0 9 ... Of some way of justifying it? ... ) He looks up. "Yes, I shall have to think about that. But I'm definitely interested.". He smiles broadly. 2Thank you...".
Brin (OOC) exclaims, "Yeeesh. Full stop overload!"
Dakota chuckles softly, slowly shaking her head. "Thats fine, take the time you need. I never stray too far, if thats a concern. I have yet to leave Aveh again since I joined the Pirates. Either way, I'll return more often then this...once every few months...I think I've observed quite enough of the guard regulation in Dazil for now." she chuckles shortly again, smiling.
Brin nods enthusiastically. "it would be nice perhaps to travel about the area with someone who knows the area better then I" ... he grins ... "...which is everyone. And perhaps I might not be away too long". He seems thougtful for a minute, then lapses into silence, after taking a sip from his forgotten water.
Dakota chuckles softly, tilting her head back to peer up at the ceiling and sigh softly. "...I know nearly all of Aveh quite well now...perhaps not Nisan, but I haven't been there often, no need...it's too peacefull. Err, well I mean, they don't need me there. Eh, yes."
Brin looks puzzled. "Too peaceful? I find peaceful places to be better, usually. Of course, my judgement is marred by my current situation, so non-peaceful is fine with me". He grins.
Dakota chuckles lightly. "I just mean they have no use for me there, hopefully for them it will just stay that way. Dazil has begun to settle again, the only real disturbance had been an incident with some 'drive' chemical." She shrugs lightly. "But things are falling swiftly back into place from these outbursts."
Brin nods. "That is good. I'm glad the war has quietened somewhat. It is a shame when people fight." He stares into his glass of water. o 0 ( I'm glad she got back alive. I shouldn't worry, buy perhaps that's just me ... ). He looks up at Dakota, and smiles. "And getting back in one piece is a bonus".
Dakota smiles, laughing softly. "Yeah, I guess you've got a point there. It is kinda nice having all limbs where they should be."
Brin nods and begins to stare blankly into his drink, his head resting on one palm. He sighs, and then falls silent.
Brin (OOC) says, "ha."
Brin (OOC) says, "beat that for a short pose >:)"
Dakota (OOC) chuckles. "Not a problem. ;P"
Brin (OOC) says, "i think the old concentration level has dropped below critical. It _is_ 5:30AM y'know :)"
Dakota (OOC) asks, "Good grief Brin...don't you -sleep-?"
Dakota stands, stretching out her back a little. "You seem tired, Brin. Perhaps you might like to rest..."
Brin (OOC) says, "Emmmm..Sometimes. When i find it hard to be awake."
Brin (OOC) says, ":)"
Dakota (OOC) says, "HAH! I beat your pose and STILL maintained a...well almost a point to it. x.X hehe.."
Brin leans back, stretches, and scratches his chin. "How observant", he notes. With a slight crash, he falls off the back of his stool and collapses on the floor. "Oh dear. Perhaps you're right". He picks himself up, and begins to slowly shamble toward the door. "I hope to... talk another time. Goodbye, Dakota..." He yawns, and exits via the mechanical door.
Dakota stifles a laugh at his actions giving a short wave as he exits. "Sleep well Brin."
Brin (OOC) says, ":) That was fun. Thanks."
Dakota (OOC) chuckles. "Nice exit too ^_^ Thanks for RPing. :)"
