DCU prove too strong for Tallaght challenge

Dublin City University 3-18
Tallaght Institute of Technology 0-4

Week 11 witnessed an exhibition of football in St Claires as the DCU freshers B team let loose on a hard fighting Tallaght outfit. Whilst missing influential players such a Benny O'Brien, Kevin Shorthall and Robbie Brennan was initially very worrying the boys from DCU did the business. The writing was on the wall early on with excellent work from the midfield pairing of captain Brian Williams and the excellent Tommy Desmond setting up Ronan Crossan for an excellent goal from a scorching shot which blistered the tips of the goal keepers fingers on its way to the net via the butt of the post. With free taking expert Cian Morrissey in excellent form notching up 3 pionts from frees and a fisted piont in the first half the half time score was 1-10 to 0-3

A valiant fight back by the Tallaght lads with full forward B. Earley at the start of the second half caused havoc and finally the referee had no other choice but to piont to the spot after the keeper had no choice but to haul down the on rushing B. Earley. But the resulting spot kick was saved as the former villain turned hero and dived to his left to collect the ball on his chest. This was the start of a fine move involving Fergal Delaney, Padraig O'Gallaghan and finally Declan Moore who finished to the net with a fine left footed shot to the net after he cut inside 2 defenders to beat the unsighted goalkeeper. This coupled with pionts from Micheal Moroney, Ferghal Behan, Micheal Poniard and a 50 from Rory Geoghegan left the Tallaght lads demoralised and finally Stephen Crosbie finished off the scoring with a fine goal.

Scorers:Declan Moore 1-1, Ronan Crossan 1-0, Stephen Crosbie 1-0, Cian Morrissey 0-5, Tom Matthews 0-2, Fergal Behan 0-3, Padraig O'Callaghan 0-3, M Moroney 0-2, M Poniard 0-1, R Geoghegan 0-1,
