The D.C.U club was founded in 1996 by Maggie McGivern and some of her fellow students. As with all new clubs the going was fairly tough at the start. Lack of numbers was a real problem as was the standard of football that the team was expected to play at. Since then the team has come on a long way even with the graduation of Maggie McGivern.


Interest in Ladies Gaelic Football has grown enormously in the college since then, some of its growth being attributable to the rise in popularity on a nationwide scale and some due to efforts of people working inside the college to promote it. Every year the numbers joining the club have increased beyond all expectations, especially this year, so for all you newcomers a big

WELCOME!!

And remember that this is not an elitest sport even if you have never played Gaelic before you are more than welcome to join us. The craic is mighty both on and off the field!



In the clubs short history, DCU Ladies Gaelic Team has progressed from winning Division 3 in 1998/99 season, promotion from Division 2 in 1999/ 2000 season to the dizzy heights of Division 1 this year where we rightfully belong! Participation in the Harney Cup (Leinster College Blitz) and the Colleges Championship have also lead to increased success for the team.
