Working closely with the professional services team I helped design and implement various screens and business rules relating to the processing of credit card billing information. The primary technology used was J2EE, but I was also required to design and code a small C++ system to process card information provided to us by lending institutuions.

As a member of a small development team for a busy online trading exchange I had the opportunity to work on various Java based web development technologies including applets, beans and JSPs. I was also responsible for two major redesigns of customer facing websites, in which I was able to further my knowledge of standards compliant HTML and CSS. Other duties included writing and maintaining UNIX shell scripts for routine system checks. During my period of employment I completed a training course in SQL queries for Sybase database servers.

My duties included writing and modifying Java applets and JSPs, porting projects to the Sun Solaris operating system (including modifying networking code written in C++) and testing software.

As a lab tutor I assisted first year students with their java programming and assembly language programming assignments. For this position I needed a good knowledge of the Java programming language and the Intel x86 assembly languge, an ability to quickly debug and find problems in unseen source code and also a pleasant manner in which to accurately explain the problem to the student.

This job involved working as part of a production team operating injection moulding machines to make seals used in car manufacture. My duties included setting the machine to cycle, removing the seals from the press and 'flashing' (removing rubber overflow) the new seals.
