The DCU PhysEng Soc has been very active this year.
In previous years we have held events such as ice skating, karting, and
trips to York and
CERN
During Orientation week last year we brought in a bouncy castle and a
bunjee run.
And the Freak Show which was also popular then, returned during Rag Week
2000, 2001 and 2002.
The Bungee Jump on March 22nd 2000 was very popular, drawing a large
crowd and 116 brave
jumpers, a few of our very own committee jumped.
Each year PhysEng endeavour to send some of our members to YPC, the
Young Physicists Conference, held by Nexus, the student body of The
Institute of Physiscs, IoP. The last three years the trips have been to
York, Chester and Oxford, respectively.
Imelda has kindly written a review of the trip to Chester.
In November 2001 YPC was held in Oxford, which was a great success.
This year we went to Geneva in June of 2002, to visit CERN again.
That
was great fun, Geneva is a lovely city to visit and the trip to CERN was
very interesting. At CERN we saw the new detector in the process of
being constructed.
