Viking Splash Tour report

On a slightly chilly Saturday afternoon, a group of DCU postgrads got together near St. Stephen's Green to embark on an adventurous Viking Splash Tour. This tour was the perfect way for getting to know Dublin, especially for our international members: our group included Belgians, French, Bosnians, Germans, Bulgarians and Irish (!).

We had great fun on this land and water Dublin tour, done in reconditioned World War II vintage amphibious military vehicles called "Ducks". The Viking Tour Captain, a very entertaining guy, was telling us all about the most exciting sights in Dublin: how the Vikings first settled the City over 1000 years ago and how Dublin has become a thriving, cosmopolitan European city of today. The adventurous part of the Tour involved donning our life jackets while the Duck was driven into the waters of the historic Grand Canal Basin for the 'water part' of the tour.

After the tour, the "Foley's" pub hosted a group of high spirited postgrads chatting about individual impressions of Viking tour and throwing in few suggestions for the next outing. So make sure to check out our web site in future!
