The definitive D.K.'s Jungle Parkway strategy.

Key: Right MT/SSMT = An MT or SSMT you'd take around a corner bending to the right.

A dangerous journey across the river of repeated drownings, leads into the deep jungle. Beware of natives!

Get an Everettstart and jump immediately into a right MT around the first corner. Now you can either cut some of the grass here and get hit by a rock or you can stay on the left of that green line and not get hit. Either way it's pretty much the same. I'd vote for getting hit with the rock though as it doesn't really slow you down and cutting that grass might give you an edge on the guy going the other way.
Glide
Get a right SSMT and glide straight near the grass line when done. Then get another right SSMT and glide straight to the right of the posts near the grass line.

No trolls live under this bridge, because it's really a ramp

Now, you hop right, close to the grassline. You hop maybe 3 times. On the 3rd (or 4th) hop, hold the slide (you'll drift more to the left. This is good because otherwise you'd hop too much to the right and fall into the grass. Then hop 3 or 4 more times until you're around the spiral corner and you can see the jump.

As soon as you can.....(now here you have a choice)...you can
a) Drive straight for the left of the ramp and turn/jumpturn to the left
b) Start a left SSMT and bring it to yellow, flying off the left side of the ramp
c) Start a left SSMT and bring it to red, flying off the left side of the ramp

Maybe all of these are pretty much the same, but you have to land as far to the left as you can and be able to do that pretty consistently. "c)" might be the best choice because you'll get the MT noise when you land and the speed might be better. Personally I do "b)", but that's cos I'm used to it. In any case, I always hit A three times quickly before landing. So do that too. There are two green marks on the side of the road before you land (around the perfect landing zone). If you land close to the left one of those two, then you're in the WR zone. If you keep messing up and fall into the river all the time, then welcome to my world. If you want the WR, you gotta at least be to the left of the right green mark on all 3 laps. Your checkpoint upon landing should be around 16"51-16"71 (13"73-13"90) if you want low 2'14s (1'51s)

So you've gone and landed. Well done...here's a lollipop.

Here comes the next bit. You're about to go shrooming across the grass like a mad man (yeah I know...neither peach, toad or yoshi are men....stay with me here and don't get sidetracked). So what normally happens is that you hit the shroom the second you land, go speeding over the grass to the left and get hit 3 times by rocks.

You do not want to get hit by that 3rd rock!

You will...many many times...but for 2'14 (1'51s) it's a big nono. It doesn't seem to cost much time at all but from experience it's like 0.2/0.3 seconds per lap or something and that's just too much, especially if you can avoid it without risking anything.
The thing I've learned is to hold off on that shroom slightly and turn left upon landing. Then you shroom. This all happens in less than half a second but it'll be worth it if you can avoid the 3rd rock. Avoiding the 3rd rock simply means spending less time in the grass, the getting hit part isn't necessarily the part that slows your time, it's the fact that you've spent more time in the grass than you should have. The farther left you land, the quicker you can hit that shroom...you just have to figure that out for yourself. Of course, from some landing spots you're going to have to drive over too much grass and will get hit anyways and there's nothing you can do so don't worry too much about it.

Ok, now for the grass bit. You shroom and drive straight before getting hit by the 1st rock. I'm not sure if you can slide before getting hit...if you can, it could be faster..I don't though. You want to aim your kart in between two trees up ahead. The rock will hit you slightly to the left, so maybe aim for the rightmost tree. The instant you get hit..and I mean as soon as you can, you should jump into a right SSMT and bring it to red just before getting hit by the 2nd rock. You should be able to do this SSMT in between those 2 trees I was talking about. Then when you get hit, jump, and you should be out of the grass.

When you do this without getting hit by a 3rd rock you'll see the difference at your next checkpoint. When jumping out of the grass after the 2nd rock hitting you, you might want to use it to jump into a left SSMT around the corner in front of you. If you just jumped normally you should get a quick left SSMT as soon as you can. Normally a 3rd rock will come at you and stop you doing this for another half a second or so, but try to get it in anyways after that.

Ouch!

You should be all set up for the next corner. You want to start the MT for this corner early and take it tight without crossing into the grass. Hug the hill part of this corner around and let go the MT. At this point you can look at your timer again. It should read something like 25"00 (20"79). Lower is excellent and WR hitting. This checkpoint can be very vague though, because you can let go your MT sooner or later so you'll have to get a feel for this yourself. My other two checkpoints are more precise.

(Man, this strat goes on and on doesn't it?)

Now the next corner is different but actually hard to explain because I just do it without thinking too much. If you have access to Bens movie on the movie page, watch how he does this corner. It's pretty much the same as me. Maybe I take it a little tighter, I'm not really sure. You get a right SSMT redded up and you let it go just before heading into the grass, you hop...hop...you get hit..you're out..it's all over in a flash.

Right, for the next corner you get a left SSMT just before it and let it go and kind of drive up the little hill part of the corner (without going into the grass....there is a going into the grass strat here but I don't do it and I'm not going to cover it here). Again if you have Bens vid, you can see that he does it nicely. Now he goes really wide after this...he's so wide he could be in another timezone. That's his first lap...it's closer to what you want on laps 2 and 3. What you should do instead is try and stick very close to the bend whilst getting your next MT. You should jump into this left MT from the hilly bit you just went up on the corner..so pretty much straight away. Actually, for you vid people out there, have a look at Samis flap vid on the same site. He does this corner exactly how I do it. The rest of his vid is funny and a bit wild, but this part is good, all the way to the bridge. Once you get this MT, you should drive straight for a little while...let the glide take you a bit down the hill. Then wake up and hop into a left MT and get it to red and let it go just as you come to the bridge. BAM. Checkpoint city.

Here is the bit when you know how fast your lap is going to be. You can pause the game here pretty easily. I do it occasionally. If you're Pal, you should be hitting low 36s or high 35s. Add 9 seconds to your time here for a good guess as to what your lap will be. Ideally you want to finish the race in 8.9 or 8.8 seconds (8.7 possible but real hard). My checkpoints here are in the 35"75 range on first lap...well normally they're 35"9x but 35"75 and lower is WR pace. If you're Ntsc, low 30s or high 29s are really good. 7.5 seconds from this checkpoint to the line is what you should average. You can bring it down to 7.4s and 7.3s with practice.. My checkpoint here is 29"75...I've done crazy 29"4xs on first lap though....but that's a second faster than WR pace so don't even worry about it.

The Bridge Section

Drive straight across it. The end.

Tada!

Ok, so just before you reach the end of the bridge you want to start a right MT. You let this go just at the end of the bridge to the right and you'll go over a slight rise in the tunnel, a little bump. Now...where to aim for. This is tough. In Ben's vid, he goes mad to the right. He must think there's some presents over there or something. I guess he's just getting his perfect line for the shroom, but since we don't use shrooms here, it's slightly different. Hmmm....

There is a section on the top of the hill near the exit where if you try hop up it, you'll fall back down. You have to end up slightly to the right of this when you reach the top of the hill. Getting there is tricky to explain. If you know where that point is, you can imagine driving in a straight line towards it and then doing a left MT to bring you slightly out to the right and then letting go and hopping to the left. Like a triangle. Out to the right with the MT, and in with the hopping after the MT. At the end of that you'll be at the top of the hill facing slightly to the left. You have to turn to the left and hit A three times quickly to get back up to speed.
Now, let's go backtrack a bit. You really want to stay very much to the left before reaching that hill. There's no point going off to the right, it'll just cost you heaps of time. I wish I could give you some landmark to look out for but the ground on the tunnel isn't very helpful. You just have to keep as tight a line as possible and still be able to make it up the hill. You let the MT go just as you're starting to go up the hill and then you hop 3 or 4 times.

Never go farther right than this. The 2nd light is the limit. There are 4 lights.

At the top turn to the left and triple tap A. You can start an SSMT before you get to the line if you like and then jump into a normal MT around the first corner (no grass cutting this time). You really have to practice this bit until you can make it from the start of the bridge to the finish line in 9/7.5 seconds. With this strat you should start getting your times down to below 45s (37"40s). Laps 2 and 3 should be slightly slower (maybe 0.2) than 1st lap.

And that's that.
