15th Winter - 9th Spring

A few days after Ranger Keniston's funeral, Ranger Wittman organisies the squad to all go jogging for an hour when they get in from patrol. Although stiff and tired and just wanting showers the squad is made join with 3rd squad from 1st section of the company, jogging out of the base and round and round a nearby track. The warmth of the evening sun, is little comfort to tired muscles.

During the exercise Ranger Wittman hangs back a little chatting with Ranger Gunther Webber, whilst the rest of the squads jog together. They inevitably get to talking. Gunther's squad is also Strike squad but with a more standard set of Gears. The Squad members are:

Senior Corporal Pia Capini drives a Jaguar and is a hard-drinkin', chain- smoking party animal, who is chafing somewhat under the restraints of Massada (she kind of likes getting in bar fights with other regiments).

Corporal Glady Mainetti is the Grizzly pilot from Kenema. She's pretty quiet and doesn't talk about her past before joining the Army. She gets very animated and excited when talking about physics or ordnance though.

Corporal Gayle Dimopolous is a Hunter pilot whose (now-estranged) father defected from the Humanist Alliance (see the guide to Terra Nova on the DP9 webpage) during the Judas Syndrome just before the War of the Alliance. She hates him, and presumably as a rebellious backlash she's fiercely individualistic - which unfortunately makes her a bit of a knob. She also talks far too much (which is how you know so much about her background).

Corporal Korey Dryman is also a Hunter pilot and is the newest addition to the squad. He's been in Massada for a couple of seasons, and is loving it. He's a farm kid from Sorrento and is big into Revisionism, so this is his dream job. Constantly perky, cheerful and optimistic, and tries bouyantly to cheer up Mouse and Orson.

Weeks pass slowly with constant boring patrols in the badlands. Little combat occurs with Rover's fleeing on sight of the Squad. In world News the Southern Scum start causing trouble. Nothing that cann't be dealt with though.

There is a degree of respite and Celebration with Foundation Day. The Day celebrated Nathani setting up the Northern Lights Confederacy. Foundation Day Cards are sent and received by all. The Squad missed most of the parading as they were on patrol but did manage to enjoy the day of celebration. The parades only take place on Base so as not to upset the Massadans.

Training course for the squad began. Everyone except Wittmann was sent to Level 2 Gunnery under stern but humourous Sergeant Herb Krakauer. Wittmann started taking Advanced Leadership with cigar-chewing hardass Senior Sergeant Laila Bilanski. Hopefully all this training and jogging would someday pay off...
