Session 25

Party were in their room in the Inn planning the infiltration of Camoth Brin. It was decided that the point were the invisible group left the visible group would become their rendez-vous point in the keep. Calorn would decide when to leave the main group. He would indicate this to Thorin by slapping him on the cheek. Thorin would then cough loudly, telling John and Claybeg to also slip to the wall on their left. The infiltrators agreed to meet at the rendez-vous point every twelve hours.

Bravd was given the assignment of leaving a false trail. He would leave Tannoth Brin and ride west to the river. There he would construct a raft and delibrate let it break up on the rocks. The remains of the raft would hopefully leave pursuers to believe that Alquawen had escaped across river. From there Bravd would travel to Minas Brethil to contact Belechor. He would bring Belechor to the ford were the party had camped many times. If after several days nobody showed up he would travel on to Bree. Bree was to be the long term meeting point for the party.

Party settled down to sleep for the night, it past quietly. First thing in the morning John and Claybeg gave Calorn anything they would need in the keep. Calorns ring allowed him to bring in possesions but for John and Claybeg to be invisible they would have to be naked. John cast unseen on claybeg and himself and Calorn used the ring. Bors took the message and the party half invisible started towords the ramp. The guards at the base of the ramp waved them straight past. Climbing the raqmp was an education in the defences of Camoth Brin. Arrow slits became visible at many points. At the top of the ramp were two huge redbrick towers with gold roofs. These two were covered with arrow slits. Between them was a large silver door. The impression of a giant bear was carved into the door.

Two well armoured guards were onduty outside. One took the note and inspected it carefully. Assured of its authenticity he motioned to the second guard. He moved some levers and the door opened. Past the door a giant stone block was moving back to reveal a passage. After traveling back the stone was raised up into the ceiling. Beyond the stone it was totally dark. From the darkness emerged three men. These were clearly the guides through for the Dark Watch. Each guide gripped the right arm of a visible party member. The invisible members each grabbed a left shoulder. Then the party were led through into The Dark Watch.

Once they had been guided forward about twenty feet. Then the stone slid back down into place. This left the party standing it total darkness. Nobody moved for a minute or so. It was if the guides were listening for extra breaths. Sounds of doors opening and closing began to fill the chamber. The guides escorted the party through, however they traveled in an extremely complicted pattern that was impossibly to remember. The invisible members managed to hang on and not get lost. Eventually a door openned and the party were guided towards the light.

The party were pushed into a corridor and the door behind them slammed shut. A guard stepped from a room on their left. They were told to go down the stairs ahead of them and follow the corridor along to a door. Through that door would be someone to take the note. The party went down the stairs into the other corridor. It appeared to be a barracks, there were many doors on either side of the corridor and the place was full of guards most wandering around casually. Calorn slapped Thorin on the cheek, Thorin then coughed giving the signal for the invisible party to slip away to the wall on the left. The visible party continued on delivered the message and left the keep.
