Eonan returning to the camp after a drinking session, he was ment to be watering his horses, heard the sounds of battle ahead. He galloped in with spear ready and immediately engaged a wolf scoring a minor hit. The other wolf in the clearing bit Thorin on the chest (B-crit), Thorin enraged smashed the wolf's chest cavity with a single blow (E-crit). Dar being too wounded to fight stumbled towards his pack and started to apply bandages to the hideous wound in his side. The final wolf in the clearing confused by all the action taking place made a dash for Thorin and scored another critical to the Dwarf's chest. Thorin swung widely at the wolf missing, while Eonan drew his sword and scored a minor hit to the wolf's rump. Thorin gathering himself then smashed one of the wolf's legs. It was no longer a threat.

While this was happening the wolves in the forest snuck out and surrounded Eonan's pack horse. Eonan on seeing this charged at the wolves in an attempt to run them off. He succeeded in scattering them however things were looking very grim as there now at least eight wolves in the clearing. The party decided to make a break for it. Eonan rode towards Dar and helped Dar up behind him. Thorin meanwhile slung Ulric across the pack horse and then scrambled up behind him. The wolves sensing the fear in the party started to close in. Eonan then tried to ride his horse out while leading the pack horse, things however were too confused and he was slow to get the animals started. After a short delay, the horses started to gallop away from the camp, abandoning most of the party's food and equipment. One wolf made a final leap at Eonan's horse and managed to tear up its flank. The horse however was able to continue.

The group could not flee far due to the wounds that Dar and Ulric had sustained. It quickly became imperative to treat the wounded party members. Thorin first turned his attention to Ulric, using his knowledge of first aid to try and stop the bleeding. Eonan tightened Dar's bandages hoping this would help. Thorin finished his preliminary work on Ulric and headed over to help Dar. He managed to stop most of Dar's bleeding but Dar still past out. Thorin then returned to Ulric, however he could do little for the weakened scout who bleed to death before him (Fumble roll of 01).

Eonan rigged a travois, because if Dar were to survive he would have to be completely immobilised. Thorin then managed to completely stop Dar's bleeding. The remaining members of the party then retreated to the river bank for what was left of the night. At first light Eonan rode out to try and retrieve the party's equipment. To his dismay he found three Orcs poking around. The orcs looked like battle-scared veterans, so Eonan split.

It took a day and a half for Dar to regain consciousness. The party still weakened with injuries and running low on food decided to return to the Last Bridge. From there they would be able travel to Bree to purchase food and equipment. After the first day of travel Dar was strong enough to walk and the travois was used for fire wood. The party then continued south quickly using up the last of the food until they were near to the Last Bridge.
