6th day of the 2nd Toukakan of Entoho in the year 699 Vinda threw back his head in laughed with pleasure, he called out encouragement to his crew and then steered the Endride two points closer to the wind. Tama City was materialising out of the afternoon haze. The daft Maranains were hours possibly even a day behind, trailing pathetically back past the clear wake of the Endride. Some time ago Lucien had met Vinda in the Surfacing Turtle bar and proposed the race. To the Catch and back, a goodly distance, some days for even an experienced crew. As it turned out the competition wasn't up to much, the Gyda had left the Maranains out of sight in a mere 6 hours. Vinda docked to the rousing cheers from many of Tama City's residents. He gathered his crew and headed out to celebrate. Indeed he toasted victory for many hours and then slept for half a day before the Maranains finally made port. As per the race conditions Vinda and Lucien met to drink some of the finest Gydan brew. Poor old Lucien turned fairly green drinking his flagon, been used to the more usual local brews. Lucien though was noble in defeat, many Gyda regret that he shall not be present to make this race an annual event. | ||
