Went diving today, well attempted to. Could only get down to 6 metres because of my bad ears. Basically they are still blocked up after a previous cold (I won't paint any graphic pictures here but I presume you can think as to why they may be blocked up mmmk?) and that stopped me from being able to go any deeper which was a real bummer because I was really looking forward to diving again. So my Dad is going to go on his own tomorrow and I'll lounge around here and get some sun, maybe venture into the pool, we'll see :o) Kind of looking forward to getting home now. The kareokee machines that inhabit the island and are slaughtered by dumb British women howling into them after too much cheap wine is starting to piss me off slightly. I want to get back to college and to my friends and to my ADSL connection :-) I also miss my PC and new speakers. I'm kind of worried about them because there's a party on in my place no-one told me about (had to find out through someone) and don't want them getting damaged by stupid people coming in and getting drunk and going "ooooooh a leet pc. lets break it!" (At this time I should mention a British person just made a nasty belching sound. Dirty fecker.) and I'll just get pissed off and crankier than usual. Grrr. But yeah, Andrew (montoya) is moving into the beautiful D4 residence this weekend. He finally got off his arse and decided to get a job in the big smoke and has taken up on our offer of a place round at ours. Look out for him on the webcam. HE'S GOT GINGER HAIR! Ahem. Which reminds me, better get that webcam back in action heehee :o) Anyway, I said I'd keep it short so
let's call it quits. Can hear a distant kareokee machine murdering some
Tina Turner song and putting that poor woman to shame. Good night again
peoples :-)
As you may have noticed me mention (sigh silly British people making lots of noise now, argueing about water and their washing machine or something. I think it went all over the floor) I'm in Tenerife. Came over here on Saturday with my Dad for a week of relaxing after the summer before I set back into my 2nd year at college. So far the holiday has been not so great. My first day here I was having a great time; we rented a car, organised some SCUBA diving at the local dive center and was sitting out enjoying the beautiful, albeit, hot sun (a whopping 35 degrees centegrate that day). Went for a swim to cool down in one of the pools located at the centre of the Las Adelfas II complex and enjoyed it thoroughly. Came back and sat out in the sun to dry off. But Nivea lied to me. Or maybe I didn't read it correctly but either way my sun cream dried off and I got burned on my belly real bad. Only now is it starting to calm down. It was extremely sore the day after and then itchyness kicked in unlike anything I have ever experienced. I still remember having to endure the chicken pox when I was a child but this was nothing like it. It was extreme. I wanted to scream until I could scream no more and punch a hole in every wall I could find. The overbearing heat wasn't exactly helping the situation (oooh, an Air 2000 plane just flew over. We very close to airport here, it's cool) and as a result I just got so icthy and frustrated I got a headache from the stress. Even thinking about it now is giving me a mild one. Ow. Anyway I seem to have gone through the last of the serious itching this morning and have now booked the dives again (had to cancel one because of sunburn) and am due to go out on one tomorrow at 2pm. Looking forward to it :o) So I'm back on Saturday in Dublin at about 5am and have to register for the new college year on Tuesday and I think lectures kick in soon after that. Am really looking forward to the new year and getting back into the routine of college and getting to see all my friends again. I'm especially looking forward to using my new Alienware Area 51-m laptop in the labs lots =) It's quite sexual. Have promised to take some pictures of it once I get back from holidays and will do just that, promise. I have also decided to grow my hair long. Hopefully this will be a decision I will stick with this time and some of you may remember me attempting to grow it before and getting fed up at a very early stage with the resulting snip soon afterwards. This time I'm gonna stick it out. Promise. So no more gel or wax or that crap for a while, just nasty fluffy hair waiting to grow. I'm going to look like a complete twat I guess but to be honest I've realised there is more to care about than my hair looking silly at times. I guess my Dad has been saying it long enough, it could be about time I listened to the guy. Wow, long entry there. Brits have still to make their special tea, I think the washing machine crisis slowed it down a little. I'm also getting a little annoyed at the fly population of this island buzzing around my glowing laptop screen. So I'll bid you all farewell for now with this long awaited update. Should be more frequent now once I return to college, the summer was rather crazy for me with working and sleeping through most of it. Hope you all had a good one by the way and hope to see you around college lots this year (to those who actually go to college with me. If you don't I don't expect to see you there at all :P) Night guys, - Dave / Zyox

I've actually done lots lately, but am too busy bumming around and listening to REM to write about it. Maybe later =) Oh, I'm calling the laptop Donkeh. - Dave / Zyox
So while we broke land speed records on the A55 in Wales to make it back for the ferry to Dublin Port on Sunday night after the LAN I think we picked up about 5 speeding tickets. We were driving Niall's (cr33ch) Ford Focus 1.8ltr five door saloon. The car had a set of roof-racks on it and about 100kg of computer equipment in it plus me, Niall, and Oliver (Sithadmin, mate from Clan CIX who lives in Wales who we were giving a ride to) for most of the journey. Overall the aerodynamics fecked up by the roof-racks coupled with the huge weight in the car made it handle like a skip. Niall, with his foot actually pushed into the floor, managed to reach 110mph on the A55 after which we pulled onto the ferry 10 minutes before it pulled out. We were fucking lucky and have decided next time we are going to Fishguard to avoid driving 7 hours through England and Wales. Which brings me to something else, Wales sucks big time. I mean the scenery is really pretty cool and lots of it look like the Irish countryside so much just with more mountains. However we were in North Wales which for the most part is a nasty mix of Mayo and Kerry but with more inbred people. The Welsh language is horrific. Examples include "Pant Cudd" meaning "Hidden Dip" and "Commins Coch" and "Rhyd Ddu" (pronounced "Ride You" if you don't mind) as place names. And then you encounter these inbred twats in a garage at side of road with the most fucked up accents ever. What's even worse is when they hear you go "cheers" with an Irish accent the whole shop looks around and frowns at you while the guy behind counter is eyeing you up like you have a bomb. The roads in Wales are also something never to be experienced. In order to get to Aberystwyth (spelling?) we trotted to the AA website and got really good instructions on how to get there fastest from Holyhead. However no matter what way you go you have to drive up these fucking frustrating windy mountain roads which believe you me is extremely sore when you're crushed into the back seat with your legs pulled into your chest and 70Kg of monitors squishing into you at every left turn. Not nice. However the weekend was definitely worth it and was funny seeing people shocked to see the only two Irish guys that turned up, heehee, and we just had so much fun with the Landed crew. We will definitely be in attendance at Landed 5. Not much other news really, taking it easy this week after the LAN and going to try watching some of my 65Gb of DivX films and my 72Gb of anime ^_^ I also just realised during the LAN that my system has half a terabyte of hard drive space, how fucking cool is that. I mean this thing is a desktop pc, rawr (Half a terabyte = 0.5Tb ~= 500Gb), and bundled with the 1024Mb of RAM running at 333MHz it's pretty much purring like a sexed up tiger. *cuddles Flashbanf* - Dave / Zyox
http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/54/31519.html - Man converts Melenium Falcon into PC. Leet. http://www.rathergood.com/blode6/ - Yeah you'll hate me for posting this but it's just fucking weird. From the same people that brought you those crazy kittens. http://www.gaybetamax.co.uk - If you visit any of the links please visit this one. It _needs_ speakers. My favourite link this month by far. So in other news not much is happening. Niall (cr33ch) got his sexy new 19inch black monitor and a video in similar style to monitor.avi (done when he was selling his old one) is currently in production with and undisclosed release date. Today or tomorrow I'm buying tickets for the ferry for our trip to Landed 4 which we are really looking forward to and have some new hardware in the post from Komplett in anticipation. Off the top of my head I've ordered a new 200gig hard drive, 512Mb of ram, a new mouse, and a CD-R drive with a spindle of 50 CD-R's. So yeah I went a bit crazy on the spending, oops. As for work, I'm not doing any this week and just taking it easy. God bless part-time :o) - Dave / Zyox
Just in from work about an hour now. I was working 12pm-8pm both Saturday and Sunday on my own, basically open and closing, and holy crap Sunday is such a slow boring day, no-one uses net-cafes on a Sunday. Working again tomorrow from 12pm-8pm, go me. Oh and speaking of go me, I got a 2nd Class Honours overall in my end of year exams, how chuffed am I considering I expected to fail 2 exams? Very fucking chuffed indeed. Here are the results: Subject Code Subject Name Final Mark MS120 Mathematics 1: 48 CA166 Computer Programming 2: 82 CA106 Web Design: 75 CA104 Computer Architecture 2: 73 MT105 Business Game For Students of Comp. & Eng.: 60 OVERALL RESULT 2ND CLASS HONOURS GRADE 1 So yeah very happy. Meant to go out on Saturday night to celebrate but didn't in the end so might make up for it soon hopefully. Not really in the creative talkitive mood right now because I'm a bit tired after work and all, so check back later in the week when I've got some inpirational energy or something. Oh and before I go, webcam is back online 24 hours a day on a 1min refresh rate and will stay like that for a good while. Enjoy. - Dave / Zyox
So yes, the website is back up and running once again. This first post won't be too big or have any "goss" in it or any of that. This is just a nice gentle one to break you in. I plan to do at least one weekly update every weekend (probably Sunday evening) and there should be more intersparsed if something mildly interesting occurs that I feel I need to brag about to all 3 of you out there who look at this website :o) Right now though, I think I'll go get out of this dressing gown and have a shower. Oh and by the way, I've been getting a lot of curious people wondering why our webcam is broken. It's a long story really but basically Netsource (who provide our ADSL connection) are having problems with so many new customers signing up that they don't have the bandwith available to them to cope and hence everyone's connection has gone worse than 56k modems for the time being (well in ping terms anyway, downloads are still pretty good) and it should be resolved in the coming few weeks. Once it's back and working properly I'll put the webcam back up on 24 hour broadcast, I know how many people are following the happenings on it :o) - Dave / Zyox
And yes, I did steal the Penny-Arcade news update header thingy. It's a nice layout, works well here, so it's staying here. Oh yeah, if you want old news items or whatever you call them (basically everything I posted last year) go here: Year 1 posts
