Agent Scully was first assigned to the X-files to debunk Agent Mulder's work in the X-Files. She has since become his strongest ally against the Cigarette-Smoking Man and the other members of the Syndicate. She received a B.S. in Physics from the University of Maryland in 1986. She also has a medical degree and has completed a residency in forensic pathology. Six years ago Scully was abducted by Duane Barry and was taken to Skyland mountain in Virginia. She was then abducted by what Mulder believes were aliens, Scully, however, still does not remember exactly what happened to her. Mulder believes that this abduction was where Scully received her cancer which she was diagnosed with three years ago. She has an inoperable tumour on the wall between her sinus and her cerebrum. If this tumor were to push into her brain she will not survive. Scully's cancer has since gone into remission and she is now pregnant. She became pregnanat when Mulder told her of how he had found her ova in a laboratory, that they had taken them from her when she was abducted. She took the ova and asked Mulder to donate sperm, and was invitro fertilised. This however did not take but Scully became pregnant anyhow. All through her pregnancy Scully was worried about whether her baby was completely human or not, but it was. She had a healthy baby boy in the season finale of Season Eight. Krycek had told her her baby is more than human. Scully named her son William after Mulder's father. Special Agent Dana Scully is played by Gillian Anderson
