DCU's Networking Society. Become a Member.
Redbrick was formed from a battered 386 PC (dubbed Nurse) and bits of borrowed memory - these days we spend our time running tech events for our members and deploying services. Weβre open to everyone, regardless of computing level, who want to come and learn!

About Us!
βWhat is Redbrick?β - this is the age-old query which has plagued the DCU Networking Society for years. Redbrick is such a diverse society that a million monkeys working on a million typewriters for a million years might reproduce the works of Shakespeare, but theyβll never come up with a concise explanation as to what Redbrick is.
Simply put, Redbrick is a rather big social society with a slant on computers and technology. We host a plethora of techy events designed to entertain and educate everyone, regardless of experience. These include workshops on programming, web development, and graphic design, talks by industry professionals, games nights, and annual events like our CS Ball and Pub Quiz.
Redbrick isnβt just about events though; we are lucky enough to have our own servers on which we host the services
used daily by our members. These include webspace (host your own website or projects), your own @redbrick.dcu.ie
email address, and our wiki site, where all our members can create/edit/vandalise
pages on whatever you feel like. You can access all of these services from anywhere online. Our Discord server is the main
place for chatting, sharing memes, procrastinating assignments, and meeting new people.
Networking societies exist all over the country, and Redbrick - as part of the Intersocs network - often mingles with other nerds from TU Dublin, UCD, UCC, and many other universities at our Intersocs events.
So, if you want to make new friends, talk about whateverβs on your mind, or just kill time in good company, Redbrick has something to offer you!
Events
Redbrick runs a wide range of events throughout the year, from technical workshops and industry talks to games nights, and competitions, all powered by our trademark free pizza. Our goal is to make tech fun, approachable, and social for everyone, whether you are a complete beginner or already deep into your niche of choice.
At the centre of our events calendar is Hackerclub, our weekly workshop series. These sessions cover everything from programming, Linux, Git, and Docker to web development, shell scripting, cybersecurity topics like CTFs and steganography, and exam prep for computing modules. It is a great way to learn something new, brush up on the basics, or explore topics you donβt find in lectures.
Alongside Hackerclub, we run plenty of social events throughout the year, including games nights, quizzes, movie nights, creative competitions, and society traditions that bring members together outside the lab. We also host talks and workshops with industry guests, alumni, and academic speakers, giving members the chance to hear about real-world tech, careers, and interesting ideas from across the field.
From gaming events to Lightning Talks to company workshops, the Computer Science Ball, and trips like FOSDEM, there is always something happening in Redbrick. Whether you want to build your skills, meet new people, or just show up for the vibes and free pizza, there is an event for you.
Don't Miss Out
Redbrick hosts events for everything tech related - from computer programming tutorials to workshops with multinational tech companies.
