Driving Range

Inside view of driving range

Townley Hall is equipped with a 12-bay driving range. A basket of practice balls can be rented for €4. The range is open from 9:30am to 9:30pm daily.

TOWNLEY HALL GOLF CLUB - LOCAL RULES ( printer version )

  1. Out of Bounds (rule 27-1) White Stakes
    1. Beyond any fence or wall surrounding the course.
    2. Internal out of bounds:
      1. 7th & 16th to the right side of hedge and in the gully between the 7th & 8th fairways.
      2. Right and left of the 8th & 17th fairways.
      3. Right of 9th & 18th fairways.
      4. Within the boundary walls of the old farmyard at back of 1st & 8th greens.
  2. Water Hazards (rule 26)
    • Drain traversing the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th & 8th fairways and to the right of the 9th green, identified by yellow stakes.
  3. Immovable Obstructions (rule 24-2)
    1. Water troughs, shelters, bell.
    2. Artificially surfaced paths.
    3. Timber railings on bridges over water hazards.
    4. Flower beds and shrubberies
    One club length, nearest point of relief NOT nearer the hole - NO penalty.

  4. Movable Obstructions (rule 24-1)
    • Direction markers, rakes and stones in bunkers and tee-markers.
  5. Ground Under Repair (rule 25)
    • All Ground Under Repair is marked by white or yellow lines and identified with a sign. Relief must be taken, wheel and tractor ruts are GUR - One club length, NO penalty.
  6. Integral Parts of the Course
    • All walls, gate piers, mature trees, boundary fencing, tee boxes and bridges over water hazards - No relief.
  7. Staked Trees
    • If newly planted staked trees interfere with the player's stance, the area of his intended swing or line of sight, the player is entitled to a free drop, 2 club lengths NOT nearer the hole.
  8. Other
    1. A ball resting on a putting green of another hole must be dropped 1 club length from the nearest point of relief NOT nearer the hole - NO penalty.
    2. It is forbidden to cross over boundary fences to retrieve a ball.

Penalty for breach of local rules not covered by the rules of golf: 1 month's suspension of player's handicap.
