How to Join

Joining Comic Soc is easy!

To join this society, just come along to our table in the Hub on Clubs and Socs Day and sign yourself up.

If you can't make it on Clubs and Socs Day, then there's no need to worry, just head up to the Clubs and Societies Offices upstairs in the Hub and someone will be on hand to sign you up.

Student membership for one year costs just 4 euro.

Aims of the Society

What Comic Soc hopes to achieve.

The following are the aims of the society:

• Comic Library - buying in lots of cool comic books for the members to borrow free of charge.
• Discussions - having a place for students to discuss comics.
• Nights Out - getting the members together and going out.
• Movie Nights - watching film adaptations of all our favourite comic books.
• Our Own Publication - releasing compilations of comics and other material sent in by our members.
• Comic Convention - holding a comic book convention right here in DCU!

History of Comic Soc

Here's how it all began:

Comic Soc was set up by Conor Lynch and a few other interested students right at the end of the 2006/07 academic year, with the aim of creating a society where DCU students can get together and share their passion for comics.

Brave young Conor daringly collected the 20 signatures required to set up a new society and then forged a committee. They established a constitution before presenting it before the might of the Societies and Publications Committee.

On that fateful day, the Gods smiled upon Conor and his band of followers and the society was approved.

The Comic Soc committee are the noble bunch encharged with keeping everything running.
