London Baaaaaby

posted on: December 21

Wooooooo. What better way to get excited about Christmas than eh... going to see a panto, with the lovely Noah "I'm a hottie" Lawson in it. That's right, Last Monday 14 of us headed across the pond to the land of... London. Our hostel was smack bang in Picadilly, and heck, we didn't even need a travel plug.

Tuesday was our panto up in Kent, and after some minor mishaps everything was fine... A few of us spotted Mr Beau Brady before the show and were left a bit girly and giggly..... no names.. The panto was Sleeping Beauty, and it was actually really funny. It was a bit creepy in that we were surrounded by little children, and the occassional granny, but still.
Beau was playing Prince Charming (I think? some pretty boy prince anywho) and he was dashing..!

Then after the show the excitement came... hurrraaaah. I think we suitably freaked the shite out of him. He seemed a tad scared, understandably, as 13 ladies and a Luke gazed up at him. But he was lovely, and he happily (well... I dunno..) posed for photos and signed whatever we desired.
Oh, and he's even more beautiful in the flesh..... oooooh...

Wednesday was our day for wandering, and just going or doing whatever we pleased for a few hours, and then we headed home on Wednesday night.

We hope everyone who came had fun..!
And Happy Christmas, yaaaaaaay
P.S. Due to my lack of digital camera, a few photos will follow soon... ish.. I was oldsKool with my disposable, sigh..

Woooo for Clubs and Socs' Day...!

posted on: October 4

Strewth is all we can say. Thank you to each and every person who signed up to be a member of the Home and Away Society on Tuesday on Wednesday. We got a total of 161 members which is fantastic, so hurrrrah.
Our first meeting/event of the year will be taking place on Monday, hopefully at 6.30pm to enjoy the show, and the exact location is to be confirmed, but we'll let y'all know.

Come along and we can have a chat, debate whether or not Sally's departure is a tearful or celebratory matter, have some tea, and just have a chat and get to know us all and everything. Also a first year rep (or two) will probably be elected then.

Oh, and after parting with you special €4 to join the society, you can add us on Bebo for FREEEEEE here. Wooo. You might have to join DCU first, and then find us. IM not quite sure really.. Give it a lash.

Semester II

posted on: February 21st

The long-awaited hoodies finally went to print after months of wrangling with the taylor. They'll be back with us by the weekend, so keep an eye out for an email early next week with a time to collect them.

After a quiet few weeks, the society has lots planned for Semester II. We'll return to some of the screenings from semester 1, and have our big huge beach wedding event planned for later next month too. We'll also try and get another trip as they're always a good laugh.

If you know of anyone who wants to join the society, then they need to go upstairs in the hub to the clubs and societies office and pay their 4euro fee.

Hoodies and Christmas party

Hey kids. Apologies about having to cancel the quiz, we were just too busy with other things, plus it was too cold to ask you all to leave the comfort of your homes and your You'll see me in the fridge: the greatest Bobby Marshall moments DVDs.

However, next week on December 6th we're having our Christmas party, so you've no excuses for not braving the cold. The new bar will be decked out as we celebrate an Australian Christmas and then head into town to Club Twentyone. No excuses anyone!

And in most exciting new, we have a stock of hooides coming in very soon. they'll be about €26 each and you can order one by emailing us at dcuhomeandaway@gmail.com! We all have them! You can rock too!

Closer each day.

Sad news...

Much loved Australian actor Belinda Emmett has lost her battle with cancer, dying at the age of 32. Emmett grew up on the NSW Central Coast and got her acting break when she appeared on popular long-running soap Home and Away, playing Rebecca Fisher/Nash, between 1996 and 1999.

Diagnosed with breast cancer in 1998, at the age of 24, the actor successfully underwent surgery to remove the malignant tumour, followed by six weeks of radiotherapy.

After a period in remission, Emmett was diagnosed with secondary bone cancer in 2001, while playing nurse Jodi Horner on the Seven Network's hospital drama All Saints. "Our deepest sympathy is extended to Belinda's family who have supported her through this illness," Seven said in a statement.
