The Characters
|
Bors, Calorn and Claybeg wandered around Talugdaeri to get to know the town. The town was surronded by an earthen wall. There was only on gap inthis wall, where a ramp led into the town. The bodies of three men swung from gallows next to the ramp. The main part of the town contained mainly large stone buildings. To the east lay the poorer areas. The lay main wooden hovels and a campsite for slaves and many others. The Red Hoozes Inn appeared to be shut. This was doubly unfortunate as it was the only Inn in the town, also the owner was one of the party's contacts. Bors learnt that Ethem had been hung. Heading back to the men at the gallowses the party members saw several mourners. Calorn went up to one of the women and handed her a few silver for her trouble. Calorn then tried to learn why her son had been hung. Noticing that he was an elf she started to scream and shout. Enlisting the help of Bors she drove off Calorn through several stones. Then she told Bors that they had just come and dragged of her son saying he was a traitor. The humans and Calorn headed back to the campsite and setup their tents. Claybeg went to sit outside the Inn to speak to the Dwarves if they past by it. After a few hours the Dwarves were seen to enter and setup in the far corner of the campsite. Claybeg also returned saying that he had told the Dwarves that Ethem had been killed. When the Dwarves camped for the night Calorn headed over towards their camp. He could see Bravd guarding the tent. Presumably Thorin was sleeping inside. Calorn tried to indicate for the Dwarf to come over and speak to him. Bravd ignore the Elf. Eventually Calorn went up and spoke to Bravd. He leantthey had contacted the smith Bolcar. However the smith was nervous and had refused to give them work. They planned to speak to him again in the morning. Calorn relayed the Bors wanted the Dwarves to come over to his fire so the group could discuss the situation. Bravd again refused, so Calorn left confused how the group were going to co-ordinate theit efforts. The night past quitely apart from John's drunkn return in the early hours. At first light Claybeg left the settlement to spy on Cameth Brin with the telescope. When John awoke he explained that he had leant little the previous night. He said the locals generally were suspicous of strangers, which meant his attempts at information gathering had failed. At this point the Dwarves were seen to packing up their gear at the far side of the camp. As they left Thorin throw a stone with an attached note towards Bors. The note gave directions to a place where the entire party could meet up and discuss their situation. After leaving a two hour gap Bors, Calorn and John gathered up their gear and followed the Dwarves. The party's eventually met at the point Thorin's note had indicated. A lenghty discussion begun an what to do. With one contact dead, the other reluctant to render assistance and as yet unable to contact the third, the mission was not going well. The only way into Cameth Brin for the party was now Belechor's note. This meant the entire party would have to enter together something which the they had being trying to avoid. The party had little option but to enter Cameth Brin and see what they could learn from there. Bravd in particular seemed reluctant to enter the town. Finally it was decided that entering town was the only acceptable course of action. The party would headed up and try to get in with the note in the morning. The Dwarves and Calorn went north to set camp by a stream. Bors and John waited on the road close to Talugdeari for Claybeg's return. They then headed to the camp that the Dwarves and Elf had set.
