Details of the different news and events which the MPS will hold over the coming year will be held here. Alternativly you can click onto our new blog here.

The next event is Clubs and Soc's day on Tuesday and Wednesday the 3rd and 4th of October 2006 in the HUB. We're open from 10 to 4, drop in.

October 2006

MPS launches new website www.mediaproductionsociety.com. New features on the website include a blog, forum and gallery.

February/March 2006:
-The Hybrid Awards will be on Wednesday the 12th of April and will be presented by Aonghus McAnally. The night will kick off with a wine reception in the new bar for nominees and judges. Then we will have the award ceremony followed by a party in the old bar with a bar extension.

With only a few days to the entry deadline (March 31st), here are further details about how to entry all our categories.

BEST POSTER
1 A4 printed copy and 1 digital copy emailed to hybridawards@gmail.com.

BEST PHOTOGRAPHER
3 Printed photos (they do not have to follow a theme)
and the same 3 photos should be emailed to hybridawards@gmail.com but keep
them small.

BEST NEWS WRITER

BEST ARTS WRITER

BEST SPORTS WRITER

BEST FEATURES WRITER
3 Articles should be copied and pasted into 1 word document and emailed to hybridawards@gmail.com

BEST CREATIVE VIDEO

BEST VIDEO DOCUMENTARY
2 Copies of each programme on CD or DVD should be submitted to the blue box in Loans

BEST LIVE RADIO

BEST PRE-RECORDED RADIO
2 Copies of each programme on CD should be submitted to the blue box in Loans

BEST WEBSITE
Send website address and an optional extra is a brief summary of the original brief to hybridawards@gmail.com

BEST SCRIPT
12 pages or less. A hard copy to be put in the blue box in loans. This
category will be judged according to: adherence to screenplay format and
terminology. Adherence to screenplay structure. Origionality and feasibility.

There are two places for entries:

Please include your name, course, year and mobile number on all entries.

-DCUFM broadcasted a variety of interesting shows in early March. Thanks to all society members who devoted time and effort to producing and presenting shows.

-'Actualize', MPS's art and new media exhibtion, is taking place in The Helix from Monday, April 10th to Friday, April 15th 2006. Lots of MPS members are displaying work. Find out more info at www.actualize2006.tk

January 2006:
-Committee members Damien Kelly, Sarah Dunne and Katie Galvin and tons of society members are preparing for DCUFM broadcasting. Shows are being written. Presenters (Annmarie Gannon, Darragh Fingleton, Shane Reidy and lots more!) are being sought. Ideas are being discussed. DCUFM will broadcast from The Hub, DCU's main student centre, in early March for an extensive period of time.

-MPS begin promoting 'Actualize', our art and new media exhibition that is taking place in Spring 2006. Find out all you need to know at www.actualize2006.tk

December 2005:
-MPS are hosting their first DCUtv screening of the year in the New Bar this Wednesday 6th.

Programmes made by members during the semester and the summer will be shown for the first time. Everyone who has submitted work, make sure you are there for your premier. And those of you who haven\'t had a chance to pick up a camera, come along and see what your peers have made.

The results of our short film competition will be announced on the night. Entries should be
1-3mins long and the deadline is Tuesday the 6th of December. Good luck to everyone.

After the screening (which includes wine reception and refreshments [mmm refreshing]), there will be a bus to our Christmas party in Voodoo lounge for a late bar, band and D.J.
Tickets for the party are only €3
This Wednesday get Christmas off to a cracking start with the MPS Christmas Party in association with SVP, Foto Soc, Art Soc and Gaisce in the Voodoo lounge (Aaran Quay, Smithfield).

Join us for a late bar and music from "Dummy Run", one of DCU's up and coming bands followed by Damien Kelly, a Cork City radio DJ, who will keep us dancing well into the night.

This is a great opportunity to mingle with other MPS folk to discuss new project ideas and mix with other societies.

Hope to see you there, ticket price is a modest €3. All welcome.

Tickets will be on sale in the hub on Tuesday (6th) and Wednesday.

November 2005:
-DCUFM launched on November 2nd 2005. Highlights will be uploaded as streamed MP3 files as soon as possible.

-Prolific MPS Committee Member Rachel O'Brien hopes to finish her new exciting documentary about crisis in Russia.

October 2005:
-First year class rep selected at the annual EGM.

-MPS's Black & White Ball takes place in the New Bar @ Dublin City University.

-DCUTV Workshops begin.

-DCUFM prepare for broadcasting.

-MPS welcomes its new members at Clubs & Society's Day.

-MPS Committee member Thomas Bourke launches his online portfolio. Check it out here.
