4 May 2003 - Return of the King stuff
Yes, I know it's 7 months off, and that people are currently busy fussing over XMen and Matrix sequels, but I found loads of pictures! It's the last Lord of the Rings film! (possibly ever) :-)

Waiting for The Return of the King.

9 April 2003 - Blah
Haven't been to the movies in ages. Probably due to the fact that I live 20 miles from the nearest cinema. Missed loads of good films, too. Lousy life.

24 February 2003 - BAFTAs
Since the BAFTAs were moved to February a few years ago, you could be forgiven for thinking the British Academy are just trying to predict how things will happen across the water. And this year's nominations were almost identical to the Oscar noms. The winners, on the other hand, will probably not all be repeated come march. Best Film went to "The Pianist" (with Polanski doing well with Best Director too), while "Chicago" is almost a sure bet for the Oscars. Daniel Day Lewis and Nicole Kidman picked up best actor and actress respectively (but I think the American Academy may go with Jack Nicholson and Kidman). Interestingly, the two films with the most nominations (12), "Chicago" and "Gangs of New York" only won two prizes each. So not as predictable as you might think, which can't really be said for the Oscars.

6 February 2003 - Empire Awards
Much as I hate "Empire" magazine (for reasons I can't go into here for fear of being branded "sexist". Damn I've said too much), the annual awards they give out (voted for by readers *lol*) have grown in popularity, and now with big brother Sky Movies on board (as well as a plethora of other sponsors) they're on tv. And worth watching, if only for all the foul language. Nearly all of which came from Dustin Hoffman in a half hour acceptance speech for his lifetime acheivement award, during which he admitted that he's never heard of the magazine, and when he heard that he'd got an "Empire Lifetime Acheivement Award" he thought the British Empire were honouring him.

15 January 2003 - Gongs galore
Award season is here again (how quickly a year passes), and first off are the Golden Globes. In the running for best film are the mostly predictable: About Schmidt, Gangs of New York, The Hours, The Two Towers, and The Pianist. Ceremony takes place on the 19th. The Oscars, this year hosted by Steve Martin for the 2nd time, will be on March 23rd.

22 December 2002 - The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
It's finally here and the word is: it's good!

17 December 2002 - RECOMMENDED - Donnie Darko
Saw Donnie Darko with the lads at the weekend - tis class - my review here.

19 November 2002 - Fellowship DVD
The Extended DVD edition of The Fellowship of the Ring is out now and it looks great - kinda makes you wish you had a DVD player.  *makes Christmas list*

6 October 2002 - Trailers
New Two Towers trailer out, plus T3, Die Another Day, Star Trek Nemesis, Igby Goes down - some good trailers at the moment, over on apple.com.

3 August 2002 - Goldmember
Saw this on Friday with Carol - click here for not so much a review, more of a rant about people complaining about the obvious.

24 July 2002 - Two Towers
The film's out on December 18th. Click here for more pics and stuff

15 July 2002 - No Updating
Yeah the ol' film section has been a bit overlooked of late, but all that's gonna change. Should be more content up in the next week...

13 Mar 2002 - New Bond movie
The new James Bond movie's name has been announced. The film, the 20th in the series, will be called "Die Another Day", and will feature a song by Madonna. Also, Pierce Brosnan has signed up for the next film, his 5th as Bond.

13 Feb 2002 - Oscar nominees
Yeah, it's that time of year again, and Lord of the Rings tops the bunch with 13 nominations. The ceremony takes place on Sunday, March 24th, but until then, see the complete nominee list and my thoughts as to who will win, and vote in the poll for best film, all here.

7 Feb 2002 - Resident Evil
Wow this film looks bad. I mean, I liked the game (for about a day) even though it was incredibly frustrating to play, but how on earth could they make a movie from it? Just watch the trailer (Quicktime 5, apple.com), and remember, trailers traditionally show the best bits from a film...

7 Feb 2002 - RECOMMENDED - The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
Well, I have to start off with this. It came out in December, but in case you haven't seen it yet, read my review.

"One Ring to rule them all" , as read by J.R.R. himself [875KB .mpga]
