SCC Constitution

Following on from last years AGM, a new constitution has been drafted. The proposed constitution was considered by the Executive Committee and we are now presenting it to the AGM for consideration and ratification.

Both the current and proposed constitutions are available here in pdf format. You will need Abobe Reader to open them. If you are unable to open the files, please email scc@redbrick.dcu.ie and we can forward a word copy.
Current Constitution Proposed Constitution

The current constitution has served the SCC well. It was drafted over 15 years ago, however we feel the time has come for change. One of major problems with the current constitution is that it hasn't been updated over the years. In the last three years, two seperate amendments have changed the structure of the executive commmittee but this change was never wrote into the constitution, this is one of the mains points that the proposed constitution addresses, it presents an uptodate reflection of the SCC and the aims/objectives have been expanded to include the role & extra responsibilities we have taken on in recent years.

Other areas addressed include
1) Clear process/procedure for resignation & impeachment of Executive Committee Members
2) The process for conducting elections has been modified.
3) The Duties of the Exec have been updated.
4) A process for motions to General Meeting has been outlined.
5) The business of the AGM has been included.

The constitution is the fundamental laws/guidlines by which the SCC operates so it is an important document which could be in force for several years, we would ask all clubs to read the proposed constitution and if you have any comments/questions or amendments, could you please mail them to us in advance.
